I just got offered the 1.01 for Hopkins
Enticing as it may and last year i couldnt get any 1st for him i think i should pass
Unknown vs Proven and i have plenty of young WRs
I get the feeling this is a move you do to win, offering a 1st for proven talent not inquiring pics to forever build
It seems im always stuck 3rd or 4th place in my league and cant get over the hump to win it all
Am i wrong ??

Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
Hopkins is a great piece but his value is decreasing based on him getting a bit older. If you want to ride Hopkins until he is done, I would be just fine holding. If not, I think this is top value for him anymore. I think he is worth a bit more, but it's unlikely anyone would pay more and that will not change in the future as age sets in. He is elite, but anyone pushing 30 starts hitting the value cliff even if production tells a different story.
Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
So first question I'm going to ask is what do you mean by standard. Years ago standard meant no PPR. Now, it can mean just about anything.
I'm going to assume its non-ppr for this response, if you do infact mean something else by standard, I'll make a new post.
To me this is the 1.01 fairly easily, and its because its non-ppr. I like Hopkins, really like him. but his value to your team is always going to be greater than the value that he can get in a trade. Furthermore its not likely going to increase in the future, but instead steadily decline.
But that 1.01 pick, you're getting Harris or Etienne (probably Harris in non-ppr). And that RB you get, has a decent shot of increasing in value for the next couple years because of the non-ppr setting. It also gives you an opportunity to move one of your other RBs (I'd move Dobbins personally) for some WR help to replace Hopkins.

Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
This is peak value for him. I would try to add something as he offered it to you. But honestly, I would sell Hopkins for 1.01. In a start up (SF) I just did, 6 picks went before Hopkins. I would assume 4 will be QBs so he went between 1.02 and 1.03

I was also offered Swift for Hopkins from another owner
But i guess i could take the 1.01 and fiip it closer to draft for something better ?

I think you could easily flip the 1.01 for swift plus something if you want swift. So i wouldnt do that one

Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
1.01 > Hopkins in PPR
1.01 >>> Hopkins in non-PPR
ETA: Hopkins is great, and I love the dude, but he's going mid-3rd in startup drafts at this point in his career. The 1st rookie will be long off the board by then.

Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
the very high end WRs are very valuable in non-ppr: this setting widens the gap between the top WRs and a mid WR2 (slightly bigger gap in brute points per game, but considering the overall scores are lower, the percentage difference is noticeable). it is also a bit more dependent on TDs.
that said, 1.01 is a good offer, if you're sold on harris/etienne. even if they turn out to be more like jacobs than the RBs in last year's class, they would be more valuable than hopkins (especially if you have many flex spots).

Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
This depends what you want, if your fine likely riding Hopkins off into the sunset and accepting you'll likely never get this kinds value for him after this year (30 year old wrs are almost never fetching top firsts consistently) you can keep him. However taking the pick let's you pick up 7-9 years of age albeit taking a short term and likely mid te production hit
Re: Hopkins vs 1.01
1.01 for me. As great as Hopkins will be this year he's walking into his age 29 season. Yes, yes I know WRs can produce into their early 30s, but the sell window from a value standpoint is closing on him. 1.01 will likely help you right now and for the foreseeable future. this move is worth the risk IMO.
