Taylor for Hopkins and Pick 5

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Taylor for Hopkins and Pick 5

Postby ThatGuyBrian » Sat Apr 10, 2021 2:19 pm

I am currently involved in a slow draft and we are at pick three, which I used to trade up for the second overall. The owner with the fifth pick just sent me the following offer:

I would get:
DeAndre Hopkins and the 5th overall pick
For
Jonathan Taylor

Currently I own the 4th overall pick, 7th overall pick, 9th overall and the 11th overall pick. Would this be advantageous for me to accept or should I just keep Taylor?

If I were to accept the trade, I would pick Chase and Pitts at 4 and 5. In this league tight ends get a .15/1 receiving yard.

1. It's close, but I probably do the trade. I think the value is there.
2. Are you sure Chase and Pitts will be there at 4 and 5?

Yes I am sure. The guy at three told me he was picking Javonte Williams because he only has Melvin Gordon as his only running back.

I'm at 1.01 in a league and I'm likely taking Chase and the guy at 1.02 has Harris and Chase as his #1 and #2.

The value is there with Chase being your pick, but I'm not sure I would move Taylor this offseason.

It is really close, but I don’t think I’d be able to move Taylor given all of the other draft capital you have. I’d personally prefer grabbing Chase and Harris at 1 and 2, but tough to find fault with grabbing RBs while you can.

So you’re saying that you would keep Taylor instead of potentially getting to highly valued assets.

Isn’t Taylor a highly valued asset? He is considered a top 5 startup pick in most rankings I’ve seen.

Hopkins and 1.05 is a decent move if it puts you in a spot to contend. Looking at your team, I don’t believe it does. Hopkins is aging as well, which will make him harder to trade soon and he doesn’t fit your build. With all the draft capital you have, I would keep Taylor and continue to build via the draft. You’ll be able to add quite a few top players with your current picks.

If there was a move to be made, I’d consider asking the 1.03 what he’d give you to move up to 1.01. He gets his choice of RB, but you get the next three top players and add whatever capital he’s willing to include to make the move. I think Harris will be a star immediately (pending destination), but at 23 he’s already close to a sell about the time your team is fully ready to compete.

Keep JT. Seems like you're still building and Nuk doesn't help that much imo

I think your status in the draft sways this to the accept side for me.

Being able to grab chase or Pitts makes the pick almost 1.02 value.

Would rather have chase & Hopkins then JT especially picking up the top two RB’s. Flip Nuk to a contender and continue the rebuild.
