DeVante Parker price check (panic?)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

DeVante Parker price check (panic?)

Postby halfbaked88 » Sat Apr 10, 2021 7:42 am

I use the word panic lightly. I am worried MIA drafts Pitts, Chase or an another game changing offensive player at Pick 6.

What's your thoughts on Devante Parker the next 2-3 years? His contract still has some length on it, but an NFL trade is also a possibility. In which case, does he have the talent to transition or is he just a possession guy?

DeVante Parker + 2.11 = what pick? (16 team)

Or should I just hold as my WR4 & use my 1.11 on as my WR5 this year as a "contender."

I think you could jump up into the mid 2nds for the package, but I dont think Parker has much value left at all on the market.

Well they very likely are drafting one of them but not sure why it’s reason to panic, he will be the wr2 and if it’s pitts he’s still the technically wr1. His value isn’t great trade wise but he has his worth in a 16 teamer for sure. Likely a hold.

The 16 team aspect does help his hold value.

I think Parker is just fine as a hold given the format and him being your WR4. I actually thinks new rookie coming in would effect Williams more than Parker. I think Parker has proven to be a solid option, and despite the addition of Fuller (and potentially a pick) should still have a decent role.

As a Dolphins fan, I don't think he'll ever be a true #1 for the team. I think he'll have difficulty holding on the WR2 role for the team. I've seen him a lot and he reminds me (in overall productiveness) of guys like the 2nd WR of the year for GB or Indy from a few years ago. Guys who look really promising in a certain type of situation for a year or two, but who are never really keepers.

Miami has already added Fuller, who is definitely above Parker on the priority list. And it's a virtual guarantee that one of those first round picks is a receiver. If it's Chase that will move Parker to the third option early in the year - if it's Waddle/Moore, Parker may remain relevant a few weeks longer but his fate will be cast. I don't see Tua and this offense keeping 3 WRs fantasy worthy, along with Gesicki.

By this time next year, Parker will be taking the journeyman train out of Miami because it will be too hard to keep a former WR1 as a WR3/4.

I would package that pick with Parker and move up as far as you can. If it's up to 1.12, great. If it's up to 2.05, great.

I offered Parker, 2.11 and 2022 3rd for the 1.14... this is a $250 league I don't think it gets done. But I'm trying. I'm working my way down the draft board with offers the 2.04 is the lowest. Otherwise try to trade him mid-season before the rookie breakout.

I think Parker could be on the way out via trade for all those reasons you mention Anteaters. Chase, Devonta Smith, etc, someone is going to push Parker out of town and it took so long for him to be relevant in Miami, whether that was Adam Gase or not, he won't get through the "1st year in a new offense woes" and by the 2nd year on a new team he'll be in his 30s.

Ended up trading him.

Gave:
Parker, 2.11 and 22' 2nd (late)

Got:
1.14, Gerald Everett

I'm targeting Rondale Moore. Would also be happy with Terrace Marshall, Elijah Moore or Trey Lance.

Glad I could get out of Parker although losing that 2022 2nd sucks, it was the needle mover. I'm probably higher on Everett than most, but I've been following SEA for awhile. They've been wanting a TE for a long time w/ Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen, and drafting multiple rookie TEs with little to moderate success.

Everett reunites with Shane Waldron, OC in Seattle who he spent 4 years with in LA.

ok not terrible...parker is replacement level...so getting a functional te and late first for a 22 2nd.....seems good to me....

Nice way to work the trade winds. At worst, Moore will be just like Parker. At best, he'll be a lot better for a lot longer. It's a worthy swap just for the potential and youth.

I ignore Parker and look at it as if giving up two late 2nds to get 1.14. That's a good trade.
