QB Upgrade

Postby Dunville » Wed Apr 07, 2021 12:56 pm

Team 1 in sig,

So I recently acquired Stafford as my other option at QB, I got him very cheap.
I’m feeling good about my team as a contender.

I have tried to acquire Herbert (before Stafford) and the Herbert owner is now interested in a potential deal involving Stafford but I’ll have to pay a premium to get him at least the 2.12 and a starter on top of Stafford.

I’ll likely be able to grab a rookie QB late in my draft.

So my question is do I pony up for Herbert or stand pat with Stafford, does Herbert help me contend more?

Thanks guys

In a 1QB, I wouldn't pay that much to move from Stafford to Herbert.

In a 1 QB league, sounds like the price is hefty for the upgrade. I would probably hold where you are. I would want to make sure Herbert is the real deal before paying up big for him fair or not.

Depends on the "starter". If it's a guy in the flex range, I pull the trigger for the upgrade easy. 2.12 isn't that valuable, and you can rely on Herbert for a long time. Not to mention I'd be willing to bet he'll outscore Stafford this year. As long as it's not a stud, I do the deal.

Appreciate the feedback guys.

So he said Stafford, 2.12, Logan Thomas

For

Herbert

I like Thomas as a TE but he wouldn’t be starting for me outside of injury or byes.

I’m leaning towards standing pat right now as I likely be able to grab a QB in the 4th (Herbert went 4.12 last year)

Id easily pay this to go from a 33 year old Stafford to a 23 year old Herbert.

Thomas is not a significant add and is a sell for me, but I would still like to see Herbert do it again. Although, you are gaining a lot of years here and the price is not so steep in the end.

This^ x 1,000! I would have snap accepted that. I probably would have hurt my finger clicking accept so fast.

I'm doing that... I think you could draft one of the rookies at 2.12 and let him sit for you and choose between Staff and Tanne most weeks. But that's a cheap upgrade

In a 1QB league, I'd say you're pretty good at the position. No need to pay a kings ransom... This is a deep enough QB class to grab a developmental guy a bit later.

I wouldn't say that Logan Thomas and 2.12 is a ransom to go from Staff to Herbert. Idk I don't play in 1QB but to me, that's locking in a QB1 instead of having Stafford and a hopeful QB prospect with that 2.12

So the guy didn’t go for it in the end changed his mind.

I might revisit it later in the off-season but looks like I’m standing pat.
