Pursue MT?

A guy just took over an orphan in our league and put MT on the block. I’m interested but not sure if he’s worth pursuing

When I inquired, he mentioned that he values MT around 2 1sts and threw out the idea of something like Lamb + Hock for MT + a win-now piece

That isn’t happening because I’d imagine Lamb is already more valuable than MT in most people’s eyes

But would it be worth it to explore J-Rob(+) for MT? Or would that be too detrimental to my RB room?

That's a very good WR group you got there, and I don't see any particular need for you to pursue MT. (Disclaimer: I'm as high on him as anybody.)

I have MT still as a top 5 WR. His splits with even Taysom at QB were pretty good and if Winston is named the starter his value will jump back up. That said, I can understand not wanting to move Lamb. I would try JRob and Boyd for MT and a sweetener.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking

He’d thrown out the 3.01 as a sweetener. I think David Johnson could also be in play to lessen the blow of losing a RB

With starting 2 RBs I could see moving Robinson with him theoretically being your RB4. I value Thomas quite a bit more than Robinson overall.

Boyd would be ideal but if I had to guess, it would require Hock

I agree, I think MT still has tremendous value. His talent is so good like a Julio Jones type but more of a do it all, he scores more tds. Jones has been great until 31, 32 years old. MT is only 27 or 28. Hes got a solid 2-3 top 5 years left in him and I would expect winston to make really good friends with him if he wants the starting qb job long term. I'd be buying MT in every league I can.

Yeah I understand that angle. My thought was simply that MT is a safer asset (than J-Rob) who happens to be near-elite
Week to week it may not be a tremendous upgrade to my starting lineup, but it would feel like a win for the long-term

I just worry about the RB aspect, considering I have no 1st round pick to address that position next year. Obviously I could always trade a WR, but I've found trading for RBs to be easier said than done lol

That's my worry. What would the cost be to acquire a RB with similar value to Robinson? It feels like taking from Peter to pay Paul.
Could you absorb trading Robinson? Sure. If you think adding Thomas makes your team better, then I would go for it.

Your RBs are fine, plus it's early. If you can get Thomas for Robinson plus one more piece, or even two, do it.

I recently spent a little bit more to get Thomas, sending Gibson and the 1.12 for Thomas. He's such an elite talent that I don't mind weakening my RB room slightly for the short term.
