Deshaun Epstein Watson

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

We've seen situations come up in the past where people swore that guys like Tyreek Hill, AP and Kareem Hunt would never step on the field ever again only for those guys to play the following season. For better or worse, Watson is too young and too good not to get another chance.
Well, there was also Ray Rice...
Video footage is hard to argue against. I still think the only reason Rice never came back was because of the video and that video was awful. Also, as harsh as it sounds, Rice was getting older and really not good anymore. Easier to let him go to make an "example" of than Hill or Watson. The NFL is a business and it has proved time and time again, things off the field just don't matter to career's. I'm not saying I support any of that thought process, but the stats seem to support this.

Yes, that's the 1 example of a high profile player never getting back on the field. But he was declining on the field, so it was easy to move on from him. Plus that video was so egregious that there was no coming back from it.

Correct. The league has shown us this time and time again, and for fantasy purposes that is all that really matters.

Ray Rice was also awful before the video came out. Watson is nowhere near awful and plays a position a lot less replaceable. The 2 shouldn't even be compared imo

OP, just drop him if you really don't want him on your team. Asking if a 3rd is fair is just silly

If Ray Rice was 24 and just led the league in rushing he would have been back.

It's extremely unlikely that everything alleged will ever be proven, but if everything is true as you're framing in this hypothetical he would get A LOT more than 3-6 games.

Zeke got 6 games and the allegations against him weren't 1/10th as bad.

I mean you're also using one of the instances someone was over-punished, but I do think if a lot of this is true, then 8 games to a year is probably the amount Id bet on. I think the takeaway is, not even the NFL knows how many games they would suspend him for if most of this is true

If this is all found out to be true can you imagine the PR hit any team would take. Today’s society is different than when Ray Rice threw the punch herd around the world. If enough of the right people complain they could completely erase Watson from the NFL.

Yes, but some of the stories about Watson are pretty awful, too. And they'll start stinking even more once they're told in court under oath. Video may be a more powerful medium, but the witness stand shouldn't be understimated either... Probably Rice was an easier guy to make an example of, but Watson is not too hard either. Basically without a team atm, he doesn't really have a very strong support net.

Hes a hold because his value has tanked. If you wanted out like i do what do you think would get it done? Do you see anyone paying a second for him right now. Would you pay that?
I think everyone will try to low ball you currently. I doubt a 2nd could be had unfortunately. Remember Hill a few years back, he was being sold for 3rds. I can understand wanting out, but I think it's a really bad time. I think this situation could level out a bit in the coming months and his value will rebound to some extent.
so we agree in a 1 qb league we would be hard pressed to find someone offer a 2nd for him. Its crazy just how far his value has sunk.

Totally agree. I don't think there is much hope there at this point. I have him in a 1 QB league too and I think holding is the only option. As I mentioned before, if you want to get out from him I can totally understand that, I just don't think there is any good deal to be found currently. It's a major gamble either way, but I think his value rebounds even a bit by the end of the offseason.

I may toss out some mid-late 2s in some leagues to see if I can get him. The hit rate on 2s is low enough that if he is banished from the NFL then the cost would be minimal
