This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Startup SF draft 4th pick

Postby Konehead94 » Wed Mar 24, 2021 7:34 pm

Wondering how I should approach the 4th pick in my startup SF draft. Have been trying to trade back but have been unsuccessful so far. Do I take a Barkley/Kamara/Dalvin cook, or a Qb like Murray/Allen/Prescott? I’m assuming CMC and Mahomes will be gone. Any help would be great, thanks
Qb: Dak, Tua, Deshaun Watson, Daniel Jones , heinecke

Rb: Saquon, Gibson, mostert, rojo, chase Edmonds,
Lynn Bowden, Michael Carter

Wr: Amari Cooper, Thielen, Keenan Allen, diontae Johnson, Robert woods, , Anthony Miller

TE: Fant, Herndon, Allie-Cox

Just a matter of personal preference and how you want to build your team. Are you comfortable with aging RBs on their second contract to win now or do you want the longer term security of a younger elite QB? Ultimately you’ll have to somewhat sacrifice at either position based on your choice. In SF, I lean on wanting to have one strong QB I can count on but I’ve also seen teams win with some rag-tag combos like Carr-Cousins and plenty of other weapons surrounding them.

I would go QB... Mahomes, Allen, Dak, Kyler most likely. I'd include Watson but the uncertainty is scary.

If you go RB... not Dalvin (feels like he's breaking down)... Kamara scares me due to QB change... I like Barkley or JT most

If you go WR... Adams for win now, Justin Jefferson for youth movement (but feels early for that move)

I would go QB or you likely will not have a great QB1 which could put you well behind straight away. It's not the most exciting pick, but I think it's the right one.

I'm in the QB early boat. I can see, with a win-now mentality, loading up on RB in the first 3 rounds then adding mid-range QBs in round 4 and 5 (Stafford, Mayfield, Wentz, Tannehill) then attacking WR because of the depth of the position or trying to fit one of the top 3 TEs instead of a 2nd QB and targeting old/one year QBs in the middle/late rounds (Brady, Roethlisberger, Fitzpatrick, etc.)

I would also go QB early. I don’t mind waiting a bit for a QB2, but wouldn’t wait for my #1.

Am doing a SF startup right now and the first 9 players picked were QBs.

I've never seen that many go, usually there is always someone who jumps for CMC/JT/Kamara/Barkely

OP I would take a QB for sure. In SF it's important to get that QB1 before all the top guys are gone.

My startups over the past few years I mainly built around Luck, Wentz and Winston. I had figured that a stud QB was one of the safest assets in dynasty. Maybe I just got really unlucky, idk lol. It does seem like the days of Flacco and Dalton being starters for 10 years is gone though, making QB's more riskier than they were before imo.

Yikes at that 1.02 pick. Big time panic move in the qb rush? How’d round 2 play out?
