Watson for 2022 1st

Postby logan_roy » Tue Mar 23, 2021 7:20 pm

Really struggling with what to do with Watson. I am in a 1QB league and just received this offer. Any feedback would be helpful. After this trade, my QBs would be Cousins and Darnold

Essentially Watson for a hopefully mid 1st. Picks are tough to project, so I would hold if TD passes are worth 6 points. I would be looking to hold either way. I just dont think it's time to panic on Watson. Even if he misses time, this is a dynasty league. There is no way his career is over.

So even in 1QB 4PTD leagues, you do not trade Watson for this? Appreciate the feedback!

I can see it both ways. Although you may not get more in a trade, I think he is worth more in your lineup. He is an elite QB which are tough to replace.

Pass. There is zero immediate lineup help. This would be a panic sell imo, unless you just want Watson off of your team. In that case, I think you could get a better deal if you advertise to your league that he is for available.

This offer is crap. Announce to the league Watson is on the table. There has to be a better offer out there.

I don't get to attached to QBs in 1QB, especially with 4pt TDs, but top end guys definitely help. If it were a mid 1st this year and you know roughly what kind of value is there and can make a gameplan for finding a replacement QB another way (because Darnold isn't it), I would be more comfortable with it. In this case, pushing the primary value piece out a year (the 1st) leaves a lot of room for this trade to look pretty bad come time you actually see any value in the return, say if the Watson situation plays out and he ends up with little to no disciplinary action and that 1st isn't as good as hoped for. I'd hold Watson here.

Don't trade Watson right now... A future 1st isn't the worst in 1QB, but just hold him

As someone else noted, if it was a mid first this year and you know what you’re looking at, maybe but I’d likely hold. A future 1 is not as valuable, this is an easy pass for me.

Hold Watson and find a serviceable QB for this year if you don't have a decent backup to give you some insurance. We've heard over and over again that guys who get into hot water are done and will never be heard from again, but that's almost never the case.

I agree. The 2022 1st is a crap shoot at this moment, and the offer would probably still be available next year. You’d have more clarity on his situation by then.
