Watson v 1.02 v 2022 1's in SF (poll)

Postby Hankybro21 » Mon Mar 22, 2021 12:37 pm

Team 2. Sorry for the long post! Watson trade talk time.

So, the day before this all came out I turned down 1.02, 2.02, and two early 2022 1's. Whoops :wall:

That owner is still after Watson and has offered two trades. They're essentially the same components I turned down, just broken up.

Trade 1
Give: Watson
Get: 2021 1.02

Trade 2
Give: Watson
Get: 2021 2.02 (pick 12) + two early 2022 1's.

*In trade 1, I am of the understanding that the top 3 will be Trevor, Harris, Chase. I pick at 1.04/6/7/10. As it stands without this trade, I'll be able to lock in 3 of Harris, ETN, Williams, Chase, Lance, Fields, Wilson. Honestly, I am guessing I can keep Watson and still land 2 of Fields, Lance, and Wilson if I really want to.

*In trade 2, unless a miracle happens, these 2022 1's will be top 3. This would very likely give 1.01-1.03 in 2022. I currently have one 2022 1st that will probably be 1.02. These other two 1's are likely 1.01 and 1.03.

*If I take Trade 1, I unload Watson and add...let's say, Harris, then BPAs at 1.04/6/7. I'm 99% sure 1.03 goes Chase.

*If I take Trade 2, I unload Watson and likely have 1.01-1.03 in 2022, plus pick 12. If I know this league well enough, that'll probably be Pitts or Mac Jones at 2.02

*Trade 1 would help this year, but with the 4 firsts I already have, is it worth it?

*Trade 2 wouldn't help this year, but I'm guessing Watson won't either. If he's back after a year then this trade isn't great. If he's jailed or suspended for longer, this trade would help long-term.

Thoughts? Flip a coin?

I would hold and pass on both offers. The original package was big, but there are no sure things with picks regardless of how good a prospect looks in college. Getting the rights to Lawrence would change this a bit, but you already have some picks this year. As an owner of Watson myself, the news everyday is disturbing and does not have a good feel at all from a strictly fantasy standpoint (I'm not making social or ethical comments here). That said, I by no means think Watsons career is over. In dynasty, yes you may lose him for some games if all this plays out negatively, but I think it's the worst possible time to trade him and he will play again. Hold and see how it plays out. All I keep thinking about is all the Hill trades that were made after his legal issues started.

I would hold Watson on both of these. You still have Wilson and Burrow to weather the storm with if need be in the short term, so no need to cut bait IMO.

Thanks guys.

When you boil it down, Trade 1 is essentially Watson for either Harris, Fields, or Wilson.

Trade 2 is essentially Watson for Mac Jones + two early 1s.

Really no good course of action at this point!

After reading some of the allegations tonight, I'm more apt to make a move; it would be Trade 2. There just seems to be too much smoke.

Any Watson owners out there moving him for what you can? Or just holding strong?

I agree with this and I would move him faster than most, I may be in the minority here but you have burrow so go get a qb with the 2nd and add 2 1sts for next year

Yea I keep moving this way. I have a standing offer still for Trade 2, or Kirk Cousins + the two 2022 1's. Sigh.

In my 20 leagues I have Watson in 2 of them. In the 1 it is a 10 player, 12 team keeper league which I will probably throw him back when keepers are due in June if I don't hear any positive news. In the other I got him on the cheap (basically for Hurts and a couple 3rd rounders)...I also have Ryan and Wentz. I plan to hold him there because I have so little invested in him that I can afford to go down with the ship. I am not buying him anywhere unless it is super cheap, and I am starting to think if I had him and could sell him at 75 cents on the dollar I would strongly consider it.
