I think people simply remove Jones from the equation and insert Dillion, doesn't simply work that way. Should Jones leave Williams will likely be retained. They could easily sign other veteran free agent, or pass catching type back and they go right into the dreaded RBBC. I am risk adverse so I will not be buying shares of Dillon until after free agency and the NFL draft process. Should I miss out, so be it. Those with more risk tollerance and are bigtime Dillion believers, the time to buy him cheap has already passed.
That’s not at all how I feel about Dillon. He’s a completely different type of back. While he may not be your version of dynamic, he’s built to carry a heavy workload and he’s a size speed freak. I believe there’s a reason they also spent significant capital on a talented fullback in the same draft. I think we’re going to see them completely change their running style for Dillon. Williams could come back, but I don’t think it’s the lock every seems to think unless he’s very cheap. This team doesn’t usually pay their backs.

Didn't expect to see Aaron Jones resign in Green Bay, like I knew it was possible. But I just didn't expect the Packers to actually do it.

Looks like that Dillon value just tanked from what some thought.

Now I’m hoping Williams goes somewhere to compete for a starting role, but who knows?! I hope there weren’t too many who over-invested in Dillon yet.

They had tried multiple times to get him under contract. It was clear to me that they wanted to keep him if possible. Money/cap was obviously the issue and with restructures (which isn't that difficult to do) they were able to clear things up. I was saying it was 50/50 to keep him. Maybe the news around it here in WI was more insightful than elsewhere.

It just doesn't make sense to me to pay a running back that kind of money for Green Bay. They're at the end of this Aaron Rodgers era, locking up a veteran running back for 4 years doesn't seem consistent with Packers cap management. But yeah it happened, Dillon's value is significantly lowered than I was hoping. I still love the player, unfortunately my team is stacked at running back. So I can let him develop on my bench.

Maybe we should add a new poll to this thread because I'm actually still curious what Dillon's value is. I'm thinking he's a buy for a mid to late 2nd. He's going to see some run and Jones does get nicked up.

Yeah I’m very surprised they resigned him when they drafted Dillon in the 2nd last year and Jones is already 26.

Guess I didn't do a great job reading those tea leaves.

Dillon now an upside backup. That's too bad. Funny place for the Packers to use 2020 draft capital for a backup running back.

The thing about Jones and this is one of the reasons that I held on to all of my shares of him, he may be 26 but he still has plenty of tread left on his tires. They have always used Jamal Williams, seemingly too much, if you look at Jones per touch average, so Jones could easily play at his current level another 2-3 seasons. I mean, it sucks for Dillon owners(me included) but it’s not the end of the world, just have to wait a little longer.

I hope the path isn't quite as long though. I'd kind of like to know what I've got without having to sit on him for another 2-3 years. Oh well...

There's very little chance he's around for the full 4 years. The guaranteed money is very reasonable.

I think it's the drafting of Dillon that doesn't make sense here. Like you said they're at the end of the Rodgers era so they're probably not worried about what Jones will be 4 years from now, rather what he'll be as their 2nd best playmaker and an Aaron Rodgers favorite during Rodgers' last year or two there.

The Dillon pick last year was always the head scratcher.
