TE premium value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

TE premium value

Postby Hambone » Sun Mar 07, 2021 12:37 pm

12 tm SF TE Prem (1.75 PPR for TE) devy league

Got the following offer: Get Barkley, Give Kittle

My team:
Watson, Big Ben
Cook, CMC, JRob, Etienne, Hubbard
Cooper, Tyreek, ARob, Ruggs
Kittle, Herndon, Tonyan

So I'm pretty set at RB (I can start up to 5 if I want). I have to start 1 TE, so that would be Tonyan most weeks. Even though I don't need a RB, is the value too good, even with the TE premium?

The TE premium is really big here and your TE depth behind Kittle is light if Tonyan regresses. As much as this feels like Barkley, I think Kittle is too important in this format.

In my 12 team SF startup with 1.75 TE premium, I took Kittle ahead of Barkley (2.04 vs 2.07) but maybe my Niner fandom influenced the pick just a little. I like the positional advantage of the top 3 TE as I feel the drop to replacement level at TE is massive.

This is a toughie. Considering your RB group is pretty strong I’d take Kittle
TEAM 1
Dynasty PPR 1QB (12 Team League)

QB - Murray, Fields, Pickett, Howell.
RB - Gibbs, R. White, Swift, Javonte Williams, Charbonnet, Allegier, Tank Bigsby, Penny.
WR - Nacua, Dell, Hollywood, Jameson Williams, Burks, Mooney, Atwell, Melton, Phillips, Washington, Lazard.
TE - Ferguson, Mayer, Knox.
DEF - Bills, Vikings.

Rookie Picks: 1.02, 2.02, 3.02, 4.02 and 5.02.

TEAM 2
Dynasty PPR - SuperFlex and TE Prem. (16 teams)

QB - Prescott, Pickett, Ridder, Mariota, Mullins, Willis.
RB - Walker III, R. White, Montgomery, Singletary, R. Jones, Mack, Hull, Sermon.
WR - Adams, Higgins, Watson, Meyers, Gabe Davis, W. Robinson, Dotson, Raymond, ARob.
TE - McBride, H. Henry, B. Jordan, Bates, B. Hopkins.

Rookie Picks: 2.14 and 3.14.

Even if Barkley gives a pts advantage, the peace of mind and maneuverability of what you can do to your roster knowing you have an every week starter at the TE position is so nice to have. Instead of rostering garbage TEs - you can fill those spots with WR/RB/QB and actually hit on something.

Coming from someone who never has a TE I envy all the Kelce/Kittle/Waller owners. Almost every championship I played in last year was against the Kelce owner last year.

There are ways to compensate for not owning the top 3 RBs. It's almost impossible to compensate for not owning one of the top 3 tight ends in 1.75 TEP.

U look to have a contender, and your starting line up looks worse without Kittle. Pass

Late to the party on this one, but nice decline! I like keeping Kittle for your team also.

1.75 isn't all that much of a premium for TEs. You need another 0.25 to start to make a difference.. or some other bonus (beefed up yardage points, for example).. or you have to start 2 TEs. All-in-all, 1.75 isn't much. And in a 12-team league, it's capped anyway.

I think you HAVE to go Barkley here if we're just talking value. I was you, I'd try to work something out with this owner knowing they overvalue Kittle. Maybe a Barkley/TE for RB/Kittle deal. But you gotta do something to take advantage of his/her miscalculation.

I think 1.75 is a big difference when talking the top tier TEs, considering I'd be starting Tonyan instead. He does not have any other TEs worthwhile to trade for, as I did look at that option. If I was hurting at RB, I likely would have done it but with my roster, I felt like it was better to hold Kittle....

If its Kittle, Kelce or Waller, I think there is a huge drop-off to the next tier...if we were talking anyone else other than those 3, I agree with you.
