Upgrade at WR?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Upgrade at WR?

Postby Jcedwards » Sat Mar 06, 2021 1:20 pm

I like my WR group, but I’m unsure if I should try to upgrade to another top 12-15 option, along with Thomas. I have a solid group, with huge upside pieces in Sutton and Diontae; an injury concern in Golladay; and a solid, but inconsistent option in Cooper.

Should I look to package a WR with another player OR pick to upgrade at the position, or just roll with what I currently have?

With your amazing stable of RBs, I would consider flipping A Jones (once we know where he's going) into a WR1.

I'd also look to move Jones. Not sure if you can get an elite WR right now for him. Might need to throw in a pick or Goedert. Could always try Jones + Golladay/Diontae for DK or an AJB type stud and consolidate some talent

I do think the team is great though and wouldn't overpay or force a deal. As is you've got QB1, elite TE, 3 great RB starting each week (Akers flex) and then 3 of MT, Golladay, Cooper, Diontae. Jones seems the .last expendable to me and you already have good flex depth and taxi options

This was my thought as well while looking over the roster, especially with Dillon on the taxi. I’m not necessarily sold on Dillon, but he’s a fine RB4 for your team. I’d look to see what caliber of WR you can get for Jones once he signs.

Always worth sending out feelers as you never know when you might find a great deal. With your stacked squad, I wouldn't be looking to force a deal as I think you'll be in the mix for a three-peat as-is.

Shopping Jones or Kamara would be a good way to gauge what options are out there and if it's worth moving either. It's all about that return baby!

I’d be shopping Jones if anyone wants to take a punt at good value before FA

In your .5ppr, how do RBs score vs WR? Rolling out 3-4 RBs with pass catching duties is usually a solid play. I wouldn’t force anything, but swapping someone like Jones for a top WR shifts one starter into another.

Some good suggestions here for players you could look to flip for another starting WR. I don't think you NEED to do it, but if you can land someone you're high on without overpaying you've got the depth to do it.

Aside from some nice starters at WR, you're going to have Sutton off the IR, and you've got a couple good stashes in Davis and Pittman on your taxi.

Appreciate the input everyone. I actually recently made a trade to net me Waller and Golladay, as I wanted to upgrade to an elite TE and a more consistent WR (gave Mixon and OBJ and 2 2nds for those 2). I'm definitely not going to trade just for the heck of it though. I do like my squad and if I'm not getting what I think is an upgrade, I won't hesitate to keep everyone. I have had the thought of trading away Jones (already have 1 guy interested, but his best asset is 1.05 and I'm not sure I want to trade Jones for 1.05+ unless Chase is there potentially). I love my top 4 RBs, but I'm worried about depth a little if I trade a RB (won't be so bad if Jones leaves GB and Dillon takes over though)

For the most part, they average out fairly evenly. The #1 WR was Adams and he had 297, whereas AK and Henry were tied for the number #1 RB with 323. The top 3 RBs (AK, Henry, and Cook) all finished with more points that the WR1. The #5 RB (Jones) had 228, whereas the #5 WR (DK) had 226. The #10 RB (Chubb) had 195, whereas the #10 WR (AJB) had 205. So the top RBs scored more on average than the top WRs, but as you continue going down the line, the WRs end up with more.
