Enough for SF 1.01?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Enough for SF 1.01?

Postby PPE82 » Wed Mar 03, 2021 12:10 pm

Team in sig.

SF and heavy TE premium.

Initial discussions with another owner on the following deal:

Send: 1.01
Receive: 1.03/22 1st/Claypool

I already have 3 good QBs, so don’t necessarily need Lawrence.

The 22 1st could realistically end up anywhere. But if I had to guess, I would say mid.

Enough to move Lawrence?

Even with a solid QB room, I don't think this is enough to move the 1.01 in a 12 team league. Owners will get more and more hyped about having to land Lawrence as the offseason goes. I would hold.

There is plenty of time for the 1.01 to keeping gaining value. If this deal is there now, I'm pretty sure it will be there when your rookie draft is. The offer is decent but isn't a "run over your parent/spouse/children to accept" offer. I'd hold.

I would keep letting 1.01 appreciate here. I think you'll get a better offer than this later in the offseason, and if not, I'm sure this would still be on the table.

While I agree with others that the 1.01 should still go up in value before the draft, I'd have a hard time turning these offers down. You get 1 guaranteed great player and a dice roll for the price of a slightly better dice roll.

I understand the notion of already having 3 good QBs, but the youth and talent supposedly contained in Lawrence would cause me to consider trading one of my other QBs. I like those 1.03 + offers (especially with Jefferson), but you could probably land a good skill position player with Stafford or a similar deal with Wilson. It would restart the clock on the age of one of those QBs in your solid 3-man core.

I would do both 1.03 deals today, but don't move the 1.01 unless you have a overpay. The value will only increase

Negative Nancy back in da house..

I just wanted to dissent from the view that 'the value of picks only increase'.. I have never seen this to actually be the case. I've just heard the words on podcasts and read the words in forums. But, like most dogma and mantras, they're not actually real.. or practical.. in my experience, of course.

I'd advise OP to forget the phrase as if it was a curse on their house. Because believing and repeating it is.

In terms of the original question, I think 1.03/2022 1st/Claypool is already a nice offer. I don't think I'd be able to pass that up. And the secondary suggestions are too much.

Agreed. Values of the picks only increase if the people will pay more for the pick later. The 1.01 (especially when its a locked in player like Lawrence this year) rarely increases in value imo. Its the later picks that increase in value, and the reason they increase is because someone sees a player they want dropping.

The original trade in my opinion is fine. The two later proposals with 1.03 + either AJB or JJ are insane. If you can get either one of those do them asap.
