Trade back from 1.01 in SF

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade back from 1.01 in SF

Postby Hankybro21 » Wed Mar 03, 2021 9:47 am

I'm considering trading back from 1.01 in a SF league if the opportunity presents itself and am wondering what a return might look like.

My team is as follows. 10tm SF, QB1, RB2, WR2, TE1, Flex2, SF1

QB: Lamar, Tua, Darnold
RB: JT, Miles, Mixon, Mack, Pollard, Mattison, Harris
WR: DK, AJB, DJM, Deebo, Chark, Jeudy, Parris,
TE: Gesicki, Tonyan, Bryant

While getting Trevor is great, I feel this team needs a little more help than that and moving back in the draft would solve some issues. There is another owner who has 1.02, 1.06, and 1.08 and he would likely be the most natural trade partner. What combo of those picks would it take to move off the 1.01?
Team 1
Q: Allen, Lamar
W: Devonta, Nuk, Godwin, Adams, Diontae, MT, Bateman, Toney, Osborn
R: JT, Henry, Ekeler, Gibbs, Mattison, Ford
T: Kelce

Team 2
Q: Allen, Mahomes, ARich
W: Jefferson, AJB, Tyreek, GW, Ridley, Godwin, MT, Downs, Toney
R: JT, CMC, Barkley, Breece, J. Cook, Kamara
T: Kelce, Hock
2024: 1.02, 1.04, Pick 21
2025: 1st (early)

Team 3
Q: Lamar, Herbert, Goff, Geno
W: Chase, AJB, Waddle, Pittman, Ridley, MT, Terrace Marshall, Downs
R: CMC, Ekeler, Bijan, Barkley, JT, Kamara, Tucker
T: Andrews, Granson
2024: 1.03, 3rd (late)

Team 4
Q: Mahomes, Allen, Geno
W: Tyreek, Lamb, Ridley, Pittman, Diontae, MT
R: CMC, Henry, JT, Chubb, Dobbins, Tucker
T: Kelce, Gesicki, Kittle

I think your build is in a pretty spot overall especially if Mixon and Sanders bounce back. Obviously those are big if's, but are certainly a possibility. You have three very solid young WR's to build around with three more big upside and potential players behind them. I personally would not be looking to move back as QB is your biggest need and locking up Lawrence is huge from your build and value standpoints. Building around Jackson, Lawrence, Taylor, Metcalf, Brown and Moore is a great place to be coming out of the draft and heading into 2021!

I agree with Gator, take Trevor then you (should) have 2 top 5 QB's for years to come.

If you were still insisting on moving back then I think your only other weak spot is TE so you could ask for the 1.02 and 1.06 to snag Fields/Wilson at 1.02 and then Pitts at 1.06 (he'll probably be gone by 1.08) although I would still rather Trevor and trade separately for a TE.

I would absolutely be holding 1.01 to take Lawrence for this roster. There may be other pieces needed, but QB2 is the biggest and gives the most long term stability to continue building around. I usually wouldn't say that any asset is truly untouchable, but when the available prospect, team need, and pick position all line up like this...1.01 would be as close to untouchable as I could think of in this scenario.

This is a 10 team SF, I would certainly still have Lawrence #1 but if someone wants to pay like it’s a 12+ team SF (in order words pay for him like he’s a top 10 overall player) I’d be very willing to trade it. I’d likely want a good young player involved rather than just picks but 1.02 and 1.06 is a nice package too.

Hold onto the 1.01 and take Trevor and don't think twice about it.

I likely will not have Lawrence as my 1.01 in a 10 teamer tbh. Right now I'm not really sure who my 1.01 is, a lot will depend on the NFL draft, but I'm going to guess I will have Harris, Chase, and possibly another 1-2 WRs ahead of Lawrence. In my opinion, QBs tend to be overvalued in 10 team SF leagues and in a vacuum, 10 team SF league QB values are more similar to 16 team 1QB values than 12 team SF values.

If you want another player to shore up a different position, trade Darnold or Tua after you take Lawrence at 1.01.
