Start up cost for Mahomes in SF

Team 4 in sig. Start up draft (which includes 2021 rookies) is currently in progress. Through a couple different trades I ended up paying the following for Mahomes. I feel good about it, but others I have talked to feel like it was an over pay. Just curious where other stand on it.

Gave: Start up 2.11, Start up 5.11, my 2022 1st and 2022 3rd rookie picks.
Got: Mahomes, Start up 9.12, 2022 5th rookie pick

Mahomes for me. Unless your first ends up being super early, which it shouldn't be with your QBs alone. Who were the best available with the picks? It will hurt your depth but Mahomes is the guy to have in SF and is about 2 tiers ahead of the 1.02.

I don't think that is too bad of a price. Locking up Mahomes is huge in SF. You may be light on upper tier non QB players because of this deal, but building around Mahomes and Allen really helps.

11 QBs were selected in the first 2 rounds, which didn't shock me. I made this deal at the start of the draft, but QBs that would have been on the board for me if I had stuck at 2.11 would have been Rodgers, Hurts, Tannehill, Tua and Baker.

I actually think that's a good price for Mahomes! I really like your start here with Mahomes, Allen (incredible QBs to build from BTW), Harris (a low risk rookie pick), and Hockenson (due to TE prem).

This was my thought process as well. Feels like in SF QBs are never cheaper than they are in the start up.

In general this is very cheap. In a league you start 12 it’s still a fine price, but I don’t love moving my 2022 1st then not really putting together a win now team. Looks like you drafted hockenson really early here, youre going to have a hard time filling out those flex spots, need to start hammering WR.

I certainly took a risk on Harris at 3.11, followed by Hock at 4.02. I wanted to lock up the TE spot and was okay swinging for the fences at RB. My thought process was worst case with this many flex spots he will be viable every week, even if he isn't a top end producer in a poor landing spot.

The draft is currently in the mid 5th round, so we don't have the full picture quite yet. But the owner I made the deal with ended up with Tyreek Hill at 2.11. his current roster is:

Tua, Hill, Hopkins, Ridley, Waller

Mine is:

Mahomes, Allen, N. Harris, Sanders, Hockenson
