Mixon vs Aiyuk

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Mixon vs Aiyuk

Postby Gator Sens » Wed Feb 24, 2021 1:00 pm

Factoring out roster build, I'm curious who everyone prefers straight up at this point. .5 PPR, single QB if that matters.

Stock team I think Mixon carries a slight edge, and obviously any contender leans Mixon.

I am pretty high on Aiyuk though, so if I was rebuilding or re-tooling and wanted to cash out on Mixon, Aiyuk is an underrated asset to get and you should be able to get some sweetener on top.

Taking out roster build, I'd take Mixon. I think Mixon is fading a bit as an asset, and as much as I like Aiyuk, I wonder how much of his 2020 was due to being SF's only NFL caliber receiving option for a chunk of the year. I could see my position flipping on this sooner than later though.

I gotta go with Aiyuk. Mixon isn't a chump.. but he's never really put it all together. Aiyuk's rookie season was just as impressive as anything Mixon has ever done. In this case, I gotta go with the guy who looks to be a longer-term asset.

I like Mixon over Aiyuk at this point, but I think his stock carries much, much more instability. He could have a nice little bounce back season and he could climb a bit in value, or he could have another underwhelming season with a few nice games sprinkled in, sending his value down pretty far. Aiyuk's value seems much more steady on the other hand. He seems to be on an upward trajectory that could be a small boost if he ends up putting up numbers in a 3headed spear, or if he becomes the 1 or 2 and passes at least Deebo then I think his value will really take a nice boost. Also, wouldn't be surprised if you could get a third this year (maybe second) or a future second on top of Aiyuk due to positional scarcity favoring Mixon at least for now.

For me it's Aiyuk. Shanahan loves him (I think he was one of 12 or so players they had a 1st round grade on) and will scheme for him. When Richie James had that monster game because Aiyuk was out with Covid, it was because he took Aiyuk's role and it was too late to change the gameplan. I think Aiyuk will be the top WR over Deebo. For me Aiyuk is ascending and Mixon is descending. The only reason it is close is because of positional scarcity.

Mixon side for me and I like Aiyuk, just don’t love his QB situation and that he’s on a run first team, plus Kittle and Samuel “should” both be back to full strength. I actually have been trying to buy low on Mixon in a few leagues, kinda think he could be in store for a bounce back season, especially if the Bengals draft Penei Sewell to upgrade their o-line.

Full ppr Superflex I think it’s much closer but still would go mixon. 1/2 ppr single qb makes rb too important, so I’m taking mixon fairly easily.
