Dispersal?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Dispersal?

Postby Never Veto1 » Sun Feb 21, 2021 12:55 pm

****This isn’t for my Sig Team.****

So we’re going into our 9th year for our league and we’ve lost 3 guys. So we’re going to do a dispersal for those teams and anyone else that wants to join. I’m thinking of joining, however I keep getting this bug in my ear that I’m admitting defeat if I join. I’ve won this league and taken 2nd and 3rd several times. Is doing a restart for your team giving up, or is it changing things up? Curious of others thoughts because I’ve been mulling this over for weeks.

If the team you end up with after the dispersal has equivalent value, then it is changing things up. I would look at what assets you currently have, mock out the dispersal a few times, and compare.

Outside of QB, I would enter the draft for a bit of a restart with your current roster.

I don’t think it’s admitting defeat at all, but rather a potentially shrewd move to go a different direction if the league is allowing pre-existing owners to enter. It all depends on the roster you have and what the dispersal draft pool will looks like. I wouldn’t pay attention to any noise from others either way.

IF this was your team in sig:
VETO ON GOING INTO DISPERSAL DRAFT

If this was a smaller league I'd be all for going into the dispersal but this is a 20 team league.

Your QBs look great, WR look great, RB needs improvement but so does everyone's in a start 2 RB with 20 teams. TE looks fine.

I get that your team is looking a little weak at RB and maybe a little old at WR but unless the 3 teams being dispersed are great teams, the likelyhood of you coming out better is poor.

Out of curiosity what does your 2021 and 2022 draft capital look like?

But since its not, sure go throw your team back into dispersal draft if you think you can improve. If you don't think you can improve only send it in if you want the challenge of building it back up.

I just saw this is not for the team in your signature. What does your build look like in the league in question?

That is the main question. It would help to have starting reqs as well. If you’re not willing to share, I like the idea of looking at all assets that would be in the dispersal to see what kind of team you could have. Sometimes it’s good to shake things up a little.

RB - Gordon, Conner, Penny, Jackson, D Johnson, Perine
WR - Godwin, Thielen, Di Johnson, Smith-Schuster, Gallup, R Anderson, Smith, Lazard, Cephus

I didn't put the team originally cause I was looking for an unbias opinion on whether people felt joining a dispersal was giving up.

No it's not giving up. If its offered everyone has the ability to do so. Also who cares what others think. If you can improve your roster with a dispersal, do it.

how many teams? 1QB or SF? Also what picks do you have?

In a way it is giving up. You could just as easily (well maybe easily) make some trades opposed to entering the dispersal. But its all up to you and what you enjoy. Do you enjoy drafting? Trading? etc?

It is giving up but also a smart way to reboot if you think that your roster will be improved because of it. Since it is an option, I consider it another tool for team improvement, just like drafting, trading and waivers.
What are the rules surrounding draft order? That could help you decide. Is it snake or linear? If you, as a current owner, are put after the newer owners in a linear draft, that puts you at a decided disadvantage vs snake or randomized.

12 team, single QB. I’m pick #7. With my RBs I should have never been in the playoffs, but I made a late season push and unfortunately made it and lost 1st round.

Well #7 is probably the position I least like to be in. You have qb and wr set for a 12 teamer. TE also looks fine. The issue is RB as you've pointed out. I think I would rather shop around your 1.07 and see what rb interest there is.

If you think it will be faster or more fun to enter the dispersal then do so. But I think your team is fine you just need to add some rbs.
