Thomas/Mixon for picks - -- 2 part Question

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Thomas/Mixon for picks - -- 2 part Question

Postby joekuhns11 » Tue Feb 16, 2021 2:35 pm

Team #1
My team is garbage and in complete rebuild. I have picks 1.01, 1.03, 1.05.

Question #1
Do I just keep these picks and draft the best players I can and do a legit rebuild. Or do I trade some of these picks for players like M. Thomas, Mixon, AROB and try to compete a little?

Question #2
What do I do with D. Watson. Do I trade him now for a haul or use him as my focal point for the rebuild?
Team #1 (Finished 2nd)
QB - Watson
RB - Hall, Jacobs, Mixon
WR - Tyreek, Jefferson, Chase, Jayden Reed, Godwin, Cooper
TE - Goedert, Kmet
2024 Picks: 1.05, 1.10, 2.01

Team #2 (Finished 1st)
QB - Tua, Pickett
RB - Hall, Barkley, K. Walker, James Cook
WR - Chase, D. Smith, D. Adams, Hopkins, Jameson Williams
TE - Laporta
2024 Picks: None

I would hold your picks and go about your rebuild through the draft to start. See how your rookies and young assets come together and improve through this upcoming season and see what the best way to move forward is heading into 2022. Watson is a great piece to hold and help build around a steady vet, but as always, it comes down to what you can get for him on the market.

I also agree you keep the picks. You need help everywere but QB. If you get a dream offer for Watson, move him, but I would hold otherwise. He is young enough you can rebuild in time to use him

Watson should probably remain a key building block in the rebuilt unless you get a Godfather offer. I would go for a slow burn build with this roster and just draft well. A key to this also is not cutting bait too early on your draft picks. I’ve made a mint pillaging a guy in my league who drafts well, but is ready to move a guy if they don’t produce early in their rookie year at a discount. Please don’t be that guy lol

Definitely don’t try and compete this team is in rough shape. I’d entertain trades but for more picks or younger players.
