Irv & 1.08 for Waller & 3.07

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Irv & 1.08 for Waller & 3.07

Postby Riverad98 » Mon Feb 15, 2021 9:49 pm

12 team Dynasty Superflex PPR. No TE premium. I received an offer of Darren Waller & the rookie 3.07 for my rookie 1.08 & Irv Smith. I would love to add Waller but with no TE premium and my team build, I’m leaning toward declining. My thinking is that Irv & Logan Thomas should be good enough at TE and the 1.08 should be a top 2 or 3 WR or RB. Would you accept this offer?

My team:
Starting lineup: 1 QB, 1 Superflex, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, & 3 Flex.
QBs: Burrow, Stafford, Winston, Bridgewater,
RBs: Dalvin, Gibson, Mostert, McKinnon, Cohen
WRs: Tyreek, JuJu, Beckham, Corey Davis, Mike Williams, Edelman, Perriman, Callaway, Collin Johnson
TEs: Logan Thomas, Irv Smith, Arnold, Uzomah, OJ Howard, Asiasi
Rookie picks: 1.08, 2.08, 3.08 & 4.08

Tough call. I might take that. 1.08 is pretty far down. Waller is a baller. It's pretty close, with the trade analyzer here rating it 389 to 373, leaning toward the Waller side. Not sure why you have SIX TEs though.

I think the SF format makes this a decline. In a 1QB league, it’s probably fair value, but the player you’re drafting at 1.08 in SF is quite a bit better.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell
RB: Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Dobbins, Akers, Roschon, Dowdle, Kelley
WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert

Hull Awaits

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5

DLF's February rookie ADP has Kyle Pitts going at 1.05. I have no idea whether that will hold, but if it does, that has to be the floor for Waller (Waller > Pitts). Add in the 4 QBs, and it looks like anybody selling Waller for the 1.08, or less, is losing value.

Makes me think that anyone buying Waller for the 1.08, or less, is getting a discount.

Of course, that's just a snapshot of current ordering within the rookies.. things may change.

First thing that catches my eye is that your roster overall is probably leaving value on the table by holding 6 TEs in a non-TE prem league.

In terms of the deal itself, I think you have to take a very hard and honest look at your team relative to the rest of your league. If you are a top competitor, or just on the cusp of being one, I could see making the deal. If not, I think you’d be better served in getting a tier 1 non-QB at 1.08 and seeing if Irv makes a jump this year.

I could see making this deal if you are a true contender. If you are not, I would pass based on age and the SF format. The 1.08 in SF is still a good pick and fair or not, Waller is fairly old and could slow down sooner rather than later despite less playing milage.

Anyone buying Waller right now is going all-in. Your roster is not competitive enough to go all-in. With 3 flex, you'll be forced to start Edelman and Perriman level players. This is an easy pass for me.
TEAM 1: 12 team league. 1.0 PPR WR/TE 0.5 PPR RB
Start 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 2Flex, 1TE, 1DST
QBs- Lamar, Wentz

TEs- Fant, Muth,Irv Smith

TEAM 2: 12 team league. 0.1 ppc 0.5 ppr. TE 1 ppr
Start 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 2Flex, 1TE,

I disagree with most of what's been said about Waller. I'm bullish on him and buying if I can. "Fairly old"? Come on, man! People are buying Kelce like crazy, and he's over 30. I see Waller as a similar difference maker in TEP, even if at a notch below. And I expect 5 years of top production. I'm definitely accepting that offer, esp. since I'm not hoping to find Pitts at 1.08.

Well he specifically said no TEP, and SF. So that 1.08 is a pretty solid pick.

X2. I have my doubts that this team is more than a fringe playoff team in a SF league with that many Flex spots. When I have team's in that situation I prefer picks and younger guys. I'd feel better about it in TE Premium, but 1.08 and Irv probably suit your direction better under the current format.

My bad; didn't read carefully. Still, I'll take Waller. Not very high on Irv, and even if Pitts is there at 1.08, you're getting two promises for one great sure thing.
