This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Counter idea

Postby smbkrypt24 » Sat Feb 06, 2021 11:36 am

I turned this down, but thought of a possible counter after getting this offer. For team 1 in signature.

The offer was:
His: Cooper, DJ Moore, K. Drake
for my: D. Cook, Herbert, and Guyton

I want to counter, but wanted to run it by this forum first. My team is back to back champs last 2 years.

Counter:
His: Kittle, DJ Moore, 2022 1st and 2nd
for my: D. Cook, Herbert

My thoughts on this are Kittle is elite TE and could help me have that positional advantage going into next year. For that team I have Dak as well so I could lose Herbert. DJ Moore seems to be solid WR2 and maybe with QB he could even do better. Is this a fair counter or am I asking too much or too little?
I am not married to DJ Moore as I dont think that highly of him, but he seemed like closest piece fair. Also, his picks should be late he is top 3 team.

I like the value of your counter but this leaves you a bit thin at RB to go for the three peat.

I agree with that. Would you think subbing out DJ Moore for Ekeler or Montgomery be a fair counter?

I like the counter.

I think the counter is fair and a good deal for you. Since you only have to start 1RB, having Zeke and Barkley is just fine. I’d look to move Andrews for a good offer too if you land Kittle here.

Value is there on your counter but you would need to address rb3. One injury to a RB and you wouldn't be a strong competitor anymore.

I appreciate the response, but as someone else pointed out I only need to start 1 so losing 1 guy wouldn't end me. That exact situation occurred this year with Barkley getting hurt and I still won the championship.

Kittle+1st+2nd >> Cooper+Drake so it’s a nice deal for you. But if he’s acquiring Cook, he must expect to contend. I don’t see why he would want to move Kittle here unless he already has Kelce or Waller. Can’t hurt to try, but I don’t see it happening.

He is a contender. But look at it from the other viewpoint. I am a contender and he is asking for Cook....Why would I move him without win now pieces coming back?

His offer doesn't make sense for you. Your counter likely won't make sense for him. I think going for the positional advantage that Kittle would give is something to definitely go after and hold the line on. As back to back champ, you have the leverage of being able to say you are content with your roster, so he would either need to up his offer, substantially imo, or be open to your offer.

I would rather gamble on Montgomery of the two. Moore adds so much value to the deal though. Tough call despite the need at RB from a value standpoint.
