Give Sutto/Higgins/Picks Get Tyreek

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Give Sutto/Higgins/Picks Get Tyreek

Postby MFundercover » Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:03 am

I was offered Tyreek Hill for Courtland Sutton, Tee Higgins, 2022 1st, 2022 2nd. Both pick probably late.

That would make my WRs Adams, Tyreek, Hopkins, Metcalf. Evans.

I am passing, but I LOVE Higgins and still have a personal disdain for Hill

Interesting idea. That would make for quite the WR room.

I guess I'll play devil's advocate though for passing on this trade:

Hopkins is closing in on 29 years old. Adams is 28. Evans is 27 and Hill is almost 27. There is maybe a case to keep Sutton (25) and Higgins (22) as a way of age diversification.

I'm sure there will be many replies with "Go for the title!" and rightly so. But in 2 years you'd have a key chunk of your team reaching age 30 at the same time.

Fair deal and depending on the payout I would do the deal but I don't see it helping a ton considering the price tag. That said, I would counter Hopkins and a 2022 first. Might even settle on Hopkins and Sutton for Hill and a 2nd.

Higgins has a lot of upside IMO and I like Sutton but not crazy about him.

No bueno.

Honestly feel like Sutton could emerge this year as the next elite target magnet. Higgins is also still ascending and while I'm not a huge fan of the 2022 class at the moment, a lot can change. If you really want to make the trade, I'd say it's more than fair without the 2022 1st; even then I probably still wouldn't do it.

I like Higgins too much to give that package for Tyreek unless I don't have a solid WR1. Your WR room is solid without Hill, and while Hill is an upgrade at the moment over Higgins or Sutton, I'd rather stay younger.

Fair value to pay for Hill, but I don't think I could pull the trigger because of Higgins.

Not considering rosters, this might be the toughest deal for me to make a decision on in a long time. I'm not as confident that either Sutton or Higgins will be a sureshot top 10 WR as others seem to be, but they are both ascending stars. To get both young guys seems a sure way to get at least one possible top 10 WR, and if you're lucky, get two.

When talking about a deal like this, a late 1st doesn't mean a lot to me, and a late 2nd means even less.

Considering your roster, I'd probably lean the slightest toward saying no to this deal. You have 4 top WRs, and 2 fast risers already. You don't really need Hill. But it's a tough decision for me. I don't think there is a wrong answer. The only way to know if it was right or wrong is to look back 12 months (or 24 months) from now.

It was really tempting, but I held what I have. Having DK/Sutton/Higgins coming up behind Adams/Nuk/Evans is hard to move off. Like someone said, I dont like having a big chunk of my roster turning 30 at the same time. I feel like it sets me up to be competitive for a long time.
