Massive Deal for Lawrence - Thoughts?

Postby blemly » Mon Jan 25, 2021 3:37 pm

Just made a massive move to get the 1.01 (Lawrence) in a 12-team SF league (Team 3) and am curious to hear people’s thoughts.

Gave: Hunt, 1.10, Rodgers
Got: 1.01

It’s an overpay. Curious to see if anyone would still make the move.
Team 1: 12-team SF 0.5 PPR:
QB: Dak, Russ, Goff, Dalton
RB: CMC, Gibson, Sanders, Davis, Cohen
WR: DK, MT, Godwin, Chark, Samuel, Shepard, Mims
TE: Fant, Hurst, Knox
2.06, 2.11

Team 2: 14-team PPR SF TE Prem:
QB: Wilson, Burrow, Foles, Mullens
RB: Mixon, Gibson, Hines, Cohen
WR: DJM, Sutton, Landry, Renfrow
TE: Gesicki, Njoku, Trautman
2.05, 2.11, 2.13, 2.14

Team 3: 12-team PPR SF:
QB: Watson, Lawrence, Cam
RB: Barkley, Jacobs, Dobbins
WR: Hill, AJB, Arob, Woods, Perriman, Shenault
TE: Gesicki, OJH

Team 4 (Rebuild): 12-team PPR SF TE Prem
QB: Watson, Stafford
RB: Dobbins, Swift, Akers, Gibson
WR: Lamb, Diontae, Pittman, Mims, Shenault, Campbell, Shepard
TE: Knox, Jarwin, Trautman
1.04, 1.10, 2.04, 2.08

Team 5 (Rebuild): 12-team PPR SF:
QB: Dak
RB: Sanders, Dobbins, Pollard
WR: Sutton, DJM, Golladay, Pittman, Edwards, Kirk, Campbell, Mims, Hamler
TE: Herndon, Gesicki
2021: 1.02, 1.03, 1.05, 1.06, 2.02

Doesn’t seem like an overpay to me, not in SF. I assume it’s for a rebuild, not a win now
SF - 12t - PPR
QB: Mahomes - Dak - Brissett - Eason - Rosen
RB: A Jones - A Ekeler - AJ Dillon - J Willimas - J Jackson - J Kelley - B Snell - A McFarland - J Samuels - M Boone
WR: M Thomas - D Johnson - D Parker - J Crowder - V Jefferson - J Reynolds - Z Pascal - D Duvernay - J Hurd
TE: Kelce - Herndon - Alie-Cox
DEF: Rams - Jets - 49ers

If this is for Team 3 in your sig, I’d make that deal for Lawrence.
The Highwaymen
10 Team, PPR, Roster: 28+2 IR
Start: QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, FLEX (RB/WR), FLEX (RB/WR/TE), K, 2 DL, LB, 2 DB, IDP FLEX

**IDP scoring is tackle heavy (1.0 solo and asst), no points for QBH or TFL, low-medium impact overall. Effectively caps DL scoring. Adding additional IDP FLEX in 2022.**

2017: took over last place orphan, made playoffs
2018: 2nd Place🥈
2019: 2nd Place🥈
2020: Champions 🏆

QB: Josh Allen, Russell Wilson
RB: Jonathan Taylor, D’Andre Swift, J.K. Dobbins, Antonio Gibson, Tony Pollard, Alexander Mattison, Gus Edwards, Jamaal Williams, Mike Davis, Tarik Cohen
WR: Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs, DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin, Michael Gallup, A.J. Green, Quintez Cephus
TE: Travis Kelce, Darren Waller, Irv Smith Jr.
K: (will add/stream later)
DL: Danielle Hunter, (will add after additional roster spot is added to accommodate)
LB: Bobby Wagner, Jaylon Smith, Isaiah Simmons
DB: Budda Baker, Derwin James

Picks Held:
2021: None
2022: None
2023: 1st

Might take a couple years to back to that level (maybe not if he’s a super stud out the gate) but i still like it. Good trade.

You got the 1.10, what other picks do u hold?

x2 - Rodgers is still a great piece on the field, but his value is not likely to be what it should be based on age.

I don't think it's an overpay. Good move to get the deal now. The price will only be going up until Lawrence is drafted, and it may even continue to go up.

This is a good example of how trade calculators are not accurate measures of trades, and one reason why I value other actual fantasy players’ opinions on this forum. One site had this as an absolute massacre for me (180 v 375) and another was not favorable either (46 v 63). Trade calculators are fine and I don’t dislike them, but I didn’t look at them before making this trade and often don’t. Certainly not the end all be all.

I dont use trade calculators at all and never have for just this type of reason. Real head scratchers sometimes.

Totally agree on this. A trade calculator can really only evaluate a deal in a vacuum. Yes, some can be tweaked by league size and format, but none are granular enough to take into account starting requirements or the role that a certain player does/will fill in your build.

This was weak for 1.1 (lawrence) imo. It was very weak in a format that is not qb and/or te prem.
