1.08 for Pittman?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.08 for Pittman?

Postby krtbuckeye » Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:48 am

Would you take 1.08 for Pittman? I like Pittman's potential, but this WR class is deep and could see better prospects fall to this range.

I don’t know if Pittman showed 1st round value, i’d have to take a closer look at his work. Plus QB questions in Indy...
SF - 12t - PPR
QB: Mahomes - Dak - Rivers - Brissett - Eason - Rosen
RB: A Jones - A Ekeler - AJ Dillon - J Willimas - J Jackson - J Kelley - B Snell - A McFarland - J Samuels - T Homer
WR: M Thomas - D Johnson - D Parker - J Crowder - V Jefferson - D Duvernay - J Hurd - D Pettis - I Coulter - F Swain
TE: Kelce - Herndon - Keene - Akins
DEF: Rams - Jets - 49ers

Pittman for me. He's shown that he can play. Think there's big things ahead.

Feels like solid value for Pittman. He looked good in their playoff game last week, but I'm concerned about Indy's QB situation going forward. You also have the WR depth where you likely won't miss Pittman next year.

The easy thing to say is wait until OTC, but in all the leagues I play in pick values only increase as the draft gets closer, so there's no guarantee this offer will be there come draft time.

SF? I probably take the pick. 1QB I think Pittman is better than the 4th or 5th WR this year... but that's mainly because I haven't looked into the second tier of WR at all yet.

He's selling Pittman, not buying 1.8 here. I see this logic posted all the time on these boards... It's ridiculous logic. He isn't going to suddenly trade 1 of his better wrs for 1.8 if he's asking about Pittman.

What's the difference? He's considering moving Pittman for 1.08. The point is that if he waits to make this deal that 1.08 will increase in value as the draft gets closer and he may not have the opportunity to make this exact deal later. Pretty straight forward.

I may have misunderstood, but I didn't read pmart33 as saying I should increase my side to get 1.08 if I decide to wait. But rather, that as the draft approaches, the other owner may be less willing to move the pick for Pittman.

I ultimately see selling Pittman and buying 1.08 as two sides of the same coin, at least in my case here. The owner of 1.08 inquired about getting Pittman for the pick. If the other owner decides he values 1.08 more highly than Pittman, given that he is rebuilding but looks to mitigate the risk of the pick by getting someone in Pittman who he perceives to be less risky, then I am ok with that. I agree with Pittman being less risky because we've seen him play, but my interest in maybe moving him for the pick is based in having the WR core to absorb the risk to potentially get a better player. So while I'm not shopping Pittman, I may be willing to pay his price tag for greater upside at 1.08.

My league, like most, puts a premium on RBs in-draft. I could see Harris, Etienne, Chase, Smith being the unquestioned top 4 and it would only take a good landing spot for Williams, Gainwell, Hubbard, or White to leap up the board and push guys like Waddle, Bateman, Moore, Pitts, etc. down the board. I have a lottery pick that's locked into the top 4 (it's odds are for 1.04, so can only appreciate) so getting 1.08 would allow me to take BPA in the top 4 and the flexibility to reach a bit at 1.08 or trade it OTC if the right deal comes up.

I greatly appreciate both of your input, as well as everyone else's!

Correct, that was my point exactly.

The more I think about this, the more I think it's a good idea for you to lock in this deal now rather than wait. If a few RBs are going to creep up into the top half of the first round (the commonly do in my leagues as well) then that will make the WR prospect you can get at 1.08 that much more attractive.

I am a Colts fan and LOVE Pittman and what he has shown. I even made a homer blinded trade last year to move up in the rookie draft to grab him. I just traded him last week in a package to get Diggs. The Colts are a run first team by a million miles. They also love to spread the ball around. Hilton, Hines, JT, Pascal, Burton, Doyle, and Cox all eat in to his target share. Not to mention Campbell is coming back from injury and before he got hurt in week 1, he was the player the offense was moving through. Colts GM said he wants to bring Hilton back next year. The viability of the passing game and ability to feed all those mouths will depend on who is at QB. I moved on from Pittman because unless they get a QB that allows them to completely change their offensive philosophy, I don't see them being able to give Pittman consistent fantasy value with Hilton, Campbell, JT, and Hines all eating in to his targets.

Isn't TY Hilton leaving this off-season as a free agent? Either way...draft picks don't lose value, only gain. So you can look at it that way. Also, if you have roster cutdowns, trading away PIttman before the cutdowns will allow you to keep an extra roster bubble guy you may like.

Now the pros for Pittman, the Colts loved him enough to draft him ahead of J Taylor in rd 2. He also posted solid numbers as a rookie considering that his QB can't throw the ball 20 yards down the field. He also experienced a life threatening, career ending injury this season and was able to come back and play well after that. He is only getting better and Rivers won't be there forever..He's a free agent this year so no telling even if Indy felt he was worth the 25 million they paid him this season. Indy could go another direction at QB.

Frank Reich could get squirrelly and go after his former QB Carson Wentz via trade if he feels he can turn him around. Philly is chomping at the bit to clear up their QB controversy and clear cap space at the same time...so other then paying his salary which they can easily restructure, I doubt Indy has to pay much via trade to land Wentz.

Finally, Pittman has a Youtube Channel with his fiance where he vlogs behind the scenes of his rookie year, etc. What's not to love about that??
