This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Swift or Dobbins

Postby Nflnz » Fri Jan 08, 2021 12:22 pm

Team 2 in sig

Been offered Dobbins for Swift straight up. I have these guys ranked very close but since the other owner has engaged with me, I see this as a chance to get something on top.

What do people think of Swift v Dobbins - and what pick is realistic to get on top?

Both are great assets moving forward. Swift as a better shot at more receptions, but I like Dobbins more as a pure runner. Both were rookie draft 1st round picks. Coin flip based on who you like more. I would be shocked if you could get anymore than a 3rd on top as these two are essentially the same upside asset heading into their second year. Dobbins seems to be in a better running system, but the Lions could be changing their philosophy with an entire new staff and focus this upcoming season.

I liked Swift better prior to last season, and nothing has changed that for me. So I don't know that I would be interested in this, as I doubt the Dobbins owner is going to add much of anything to him.

But if you have them ranked right next to each other, than get what you can added on. I'd shoot for a second or an equivalent player to a 2nd to start with.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I wouldn't let Swift go for Dobbins straight up, but if the other owner wants him bad enough, he'll pay up for him.

Agreed with the others. I have Swift maybe 1 slot ahead in rankings, basically a coin flip, and would swap either for a 2. I believe the market does seem to be slightly higher on Swift than dobbins if that means anything/matters to you.

Getting a 2nd may be a push but I have the 2.07 and he has the 2.01 so could include those and move up the draft slots next season

I own both and I weigh them pretty evenly moving forward. A lot will depend on who else the Lions and Ravens bring back and potentially sign in the off-season. Kerryon Johnson has 1 year left and AP is a FA. Ingram is done and Gus Edwards is a FA. Given their expanded roles at the end of the season, I imagine both will be the lead back next year. The Ravens offense is probably more reliable at this point, but things can change quickly in this league and given Swift's receiving ability, his floor should be solid. For you, I wouldn't feel disrespected if you asked for a 2nd on top. I think that's a reasonable spot to begin negotiating.

In SF, the 13th pick might be a bit more valuable than 19. I have these RB very close... Had Swift ahead pre-draft. Dropped him behind Dobbins mostly on landing spot, but that doesn't seem like as big of a deal now... They are very close and I slightly prefer Dobbins now. Those pick swaps would do it for me

I like Dobbins over Swift. The Ravens are a far better organization and better defense for many years running.

Maybe they'll both be good, but I'll bet on Dobbins.

See if you can get a late second added since he's offering you.
