General Team Advice

Postby Madadamus » Tue Jan 05, 2021 11:47 am

This is for team 1 (DLFS) in my signature. We just wrapped up our 5th season. I was bounced in the first round by a dud in week 14. I really like my team but just feel that it's getting stale and I need a new fresh set of eyes. My QB situation is obviously pretty bad, but I feel stuck in a sense.

Not really looking for specific player targets but more so general team direction and maybe guys I should be looking to sell. Also, this is a league that is youth based, so selling OBJ for a top 5 pick like some other threads on here is not possible haha.

Your team looks solid overall as you mentioned and your RB depth is really nice moving forward. If you are looking to retool a bit, CEH value is sky high for certain owners and shopping Zeke once Prescott is back healthy could yield a nice return. I would shop Beckham and Evans too and see if the return would improve your team overall, but would not force a deal in the offseason. I'm in a similar league where youth and picks seem to be the most valuable assets. You may have better luck retooling in season next year once values rebound a bit and may just have to settle in for a long unexciting offseason.

Bumping this. Made 6 total deals after the Super Bowl and really like how I changed my team around. Here is the net result:

Gave: Davante Adams, Baker Mayfield, Noah Fant, Odell Beckham Jr., Teddy Bridgewater, O.J.Howard, 2.03, my future 1st and 2nd
Received: Joe Burrow, Matt Stafford, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, Mike Gesicki, 1.08 and received a likely better 2022 1st.

I think I improved my QB situation immensely. Losing production out of Adams hurts, but I like Higgins and feel like I got value overall out of the deals.

I like it. Giving up Adams is hard, but if you ultimately didnt have the QBs to compete he wasn't doing you any good.

You are now set up not only to compete now, but hopefully for a long time with your youth.

You have excellent depth at RB. Tbh, I would have tried dealing from there (Zeke?) instead of giving up Adams. With the 2WR format, it is imperative to have a major stud in one of those spots.

I like the team a lot, and really don't have anything groundbreaking to offer, but I do think that I would shop Zeke as soon as his value bumps in-season. Outside of that, I could see shopping Evans, but he's likely worth more on the team than what people are willing to give for him.

In a SF, your QB room looks better with Burrow in it, and you still have Stafford (in an arguably better situation), Brady, and Wentz with new life in IND (hopefully). Your RB corps is solid, both starter and depth-wise, and you have a producer at TE. You have a few WRs, but that’s where I look to improve if anywhere.

You said it yourself, you just happened to have a bad week in the playoffs. That stuff happens on occasion and it’s unlucky at worst. You have a competitive team. Stay the course.
