Justin Fields? Rookie draft question/poll

Postby gateway400 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 5:07 pm

Does anyone else get the feeling Fields will be a bust? I have the top 4 picks in the 2021 rookie draft. Trevor Lawrence is a lock! He is mine! Which scenario above would you all do otherwise? Do you all prefer ETN over Harris? Why, why not? Yes, I know the NFL draft can change all of this...if Harris goes to the Steelers, he's mine...lol....but I'm curious what most people think as of now.
Lawrence, Fields, Chase, ETN were what I thought to be my sure fire picks. The more research I do...the more I question it.

I think you need two QBs (not necessarily Fields) , but landing spots will help this a lot. Too early to tell for me.

I am OK with you not taking a QB with pick 2 but you should trade down. Maybe to around pick 5 and gain a 2021 first to drop 3 spots. So pick 2 for pick 5 and a 2021 first sounds like a win to me.

I don't see why Harris going to the Steelers should mean that he gets the nod. Their OL is in bad shape, and by the time he's ready to produce at elite NFL levels the QB situation may be bad too.

That is all true. Most of the time RBs come out of the gates producing, if they're good. I feel like a Steven Jackson clone playing for the steelers is exciting. Even if Big Ben retires in a year or 2. The steelers have a pretty good history of hitting in the draft. Its all speculation at this point but I still love having discussions about it!

100% depends on landing spot. But I think if you don't want Fields (which I will probably avoid as well), I would trade down to someone who loves him.

This depends on the draft. I actually don’t think Fields will be the second QB taken. I’d take two QBs and two of ETN, Chase, Harris probably

Don’t leave out the possibility of trading one of those picks for a reliable veteran option. Your greatest needs are QB and RB, so it doesn’t matter how they make it on your team.
I really like the collection of young WRs you’ve accumulated. Your lineup was good, but then I saw the taxi players.

Interesting. I'm near 100% sold on Fields. I've got the 1.04, 1.09 and 1.11, and have gone back and forth trying to move up to 1.02 to lock him in a super flex rso league, but I'm averse to trading the 1.04 and 1.09 to move up and collect an early 3rd as a pick give back. I keep thinking, I can just stay at 1.04, and possibly trade down if Fields and my other preferred target is gone, but I also am not nearly as confident in the other QB's as I am in Fields, plus adding a guy like Lance makes more sense in dynasty than a contract based league like RSO where you only own the player for 4 years+ a rookie option (when Lance probably doesn't start his rookie year, or most of his rookie year).

But if enough people share your views, perhaps he could fall to me. It feels unlikely looking at Dynasty ADP, and at poll data, but maybe I'm wrong, and at the same time, maybe I should just hold off and use my 1.09 on a QB or trade down from 1.04 if he's gone. Personally though, he's a no brainer to me at 1.02, carries that running aspect, the 1B recruit to Lawrence in that High School class, even ranked ahead of Lawrence in one poll, and a stud, w/just a few dud performances here and there in his career. I think people are really underselling him, time will tell though. Evaluating QB's is the hardest thing as always in football.

I agree with most, there’s really no way to accurately gauge the best route across your top 4 picks. Need to know landing spots before being able to get that specific with the “who’s in, who’s out” for the top 4.

Not sure why folks think Feilds will be a bust the best thing is if Jets pass on him and he falls to the Panthers... then he'd be right up there as a lock 1.02 pick
