Dionte or two 1sts?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Dionte or two 1sts?

Postby grandmabetty » Sun Nov 29, 2020 8:06 pm

12 team superflex 1st year. Team is not in signature. My team is bad. I may get the 1st pick next year. My weakness is qb. My strength is wr. A guy really wants dionte from me. I like dionte and he's not the kind of player I'd normally want to sell if I'm rebuilding but he offered me 2022 and 2023 1sts. I think its good value but it doesn't blow me away especially since the picks are a long way off. He doesn't have much for qb although I was thinking of asking him to throw in minshew. Thoughts?

With the 1sts being two and three years out, I would hold Johnson. It's too hard to predict pucks and Minshew does nothing in the deal in my opinion. Hold.

I'm not moving Dionte for firsts that are 2 and 3 years out. Would I sell him for 2 1st's, YES, but I'd need something more than the offer and Minshew does absolutely zero for me. I'm guessing he won't even be in Jax next season with a top pick and Trevor and Fields sitting there for them. Easily holding here.

Adding on. Im not interested in selling Diontae if I have to wait nearly 2 years for any type of production back. JuJu is a FA, they may let him walk, Diontae has shown he can ne an alpha in that offense, and is the Pitt WR I want in dynasty.

I'm taking the 1s, it doesnt really bother me how many years out they are, but I know i'm in the minority on that view point. That said, doesnt hurt to ask for Minshew, I can't imagine he will be a deal breaker.

This is where I’m at too. Maybe I’m just undervaluing Dionte, but if you’re as deep at WR as you say you are, I’d take the picks and just let them accrue value. I don’t think Johnson is worth two 1sts, so the only thing preventing this from being a good value is lack of patience. The nice part is, those picks don’t take up roster spots until you cash them in.
All are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

I'm taking the picks. Pittsburg doesn't like to pay up for the second WR contract so Dionte might not even be a steeler by the time you're ready to compete, and we've seen how well they tend to do wearing a different jersey.

Plus Diontae isn't playing nearly as amazing as hes scoring for fantasy (which leads me to believe this is unstainable long term). His yards per route run is still only at 1.84 on the season. He's completely scoring on a volume level that I just don't see continuing (especially once Big Ben is gone, possibly after this year if the rumblings are correct)

Have you watched the kid play this year or last? He's putting DBs on skates, consistently.

I live in pa, so yeah, ive watched almost every single game. Hes good, im not saying hes crap, but his efficiency numbers are closer to what i see with my eyes than his fantasy numbers.

I am not 100% sold on Johnson. But I think that is only because I was sold on Juju with AB in Pitt before. I think when Juju leaves this year, Johnson will struggle as the number 1 and Claypool will become a stud. I obviously wish the picks were closer but I would lean picks. Minshew doesn't do anything for me as I am pretty sure the Jags have to take a QB this year in the draft. Maybe ask for a second on top?
