Carson for Johnson and a 2nd

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Carson for Johnson and a 2nd

Postby joeya2001 » Wed Nov 25, 2020 8:21 am

Ok its a 10 team league, im not the favorite to win, but I will be in the playoffs

I picked up duke Johnson to stream for RB's

a contending team ahead of me came over and offered

David Johnson and 2021 2nd

and I would send

Chris Carson

he has hyde

now my thought here is I have no picks for next year and would like to have at least 1 and I will at least have a RB to plug in, I know im giving the better player in this deal, but I want to sell Carson before he has no value..

Im leaning towards taking it.

Thoughts?

I would hold Carson for a potential run, but I think Johnson is worthless heading into next year.

Of course not. All the advice in the world is not always right and this could look like a great deal come this time next year. It's always hard to predict where players will be.

I know Carson is the better player in the deal, I just don't want to be stuck with him, me and this guy we trade a lot, sometimes he gives me a good deal and the other way around just to keep trade talks healthy and plenty.

I'm assuming its a SF league since its only 10 teams? If the pick is most likely 2.06, then its not unreasonable. I still have the Carson side by a decent amount, but not terrible. Once it starts getting later into the 2nd though, I really don't like it. If you feel strongly it will be more on the 2.06 range of outcomes, then I could see doing it, otherwise, this is not close enough for me to pull the trigger.

If it isn't SF, somehow, this is an easy no

what, no value just like david johnson?

it seems like carson is going to disappear as soon as the season ends. that's unlikely, whether he stays in seattle (which i think is probable) or goes somewhere else.

if you want a mid-late 2nd that bad, have someone else instead of david johnson thrown in.

Yeah gotta agree with killer_of_giants, you pretty much need to look at this as you trading Carson for a mid/late 2. I'm not sure why you're so convinced that Carson is going to have a massive drop in value next year, but if you want to sell him I'd be looking for a lot more. Either that 2nd and a young player that could benefit you down the road or a couple of 2nds, etc.

If you want picks, just have someone give you a 1st for him straight up. If you're looking to the future, Johnson is worthless. Trading for a 2nd just to have a pick is silly. You CAN get more. I've seen tons of trades on these boards where Carson was getting a 1st AND a 2nd (I did this myself earlier this year for the push).
Team 1. 12 team. 1 PPR. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX 2017 2nd, 2018 2nd, 2019 1st, 2020 1st, 2021 2nd, 2022 1st

WR - J. Jefferson, Diggs, AJ Brown, T. Higgins, M. Thomas, Cooks, Bateman, R. Moore, C. Tillman, J. Hyatt, D. Parker
TE - Kelce, J. Ferguson
2024 - 1,2,3,4,5
2025 - 1,2,3,4,5

Team 2. 12 team. .5 PPR. 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX 2019 1st, 2020 1st, 2021 2nd, 2023 Full rebuild mode
QB - Tua
RB - T. Spears, Z. Charbonnet, C. Hubbard, R. Rivers, D. Vaughn, J. Kelly, Chubb (IR)
WR - London, J. Downs, R. Rice, Burks, J. Jeudy, A. Pierce, C. Tillman, R. Bell, D. Parker, D. Slayton, Cooks
TE - J. Ferguson
2024 - 1,1,1,2,2,2
2025 - 1,1,2,2,5
