Mixon

I wanted to get a general discussion going about Mixon. I'm a contender, but have received a couple decent offers for Mixon. Not so much focused on roster build, I'm curious where everybody is on Mixon. Is it time to move on if there is a good offer on the table, keeping holding and does anyone actually think he is going to play again this season based on how his injury has gone and why risk him with Burrow already going down? Community, where are we with Mixon??

What are the offers?

I've been a strong Mixon believer since he was first drafted. But I think its time to consider moving on. I have little confidence Bengals will turn it around any time soon. I sold a month ago for Jeudy+Gibson (before Jeudy breakout) and haven't looked back.

He might return this season but I wouldn't feel comfortable starting him in the fantasy playoffs in what should be a terrible offense sans Burrow. Not concerned in the least about not having Mixon this year outside of very large leagues or on a serious contender that has no other reasonable RB2 options.

I think that if you get an offer that resembles top RB value you should get out of him. I could see a lot of non contenders trying to acquire because they think it's smart to get an injured player for the future at a "discount." My thinking is that discounted value you could get now will in all liklihood be better than offers you'll get next year. Consider that with Burrow's injuries and the timing that he likely won't be the week 1 starter next year either. Could be a mess.

Solid future looking return there.

Reagor + a late 1st

Michael Pittman Jr + a late 1st

Nothing great but I'm worried about what a couple other have mentioned already. Burrow is going to miss time next year and Mixon has struggled anyway. I'm not saying he is on a Bell trajectory as of now, but what happens to his stock if he is RB2 next year?

Very solid thoughts and this is more or less where I am with Mixon and my concerns too.

I don't like the Reagor deal. I'm intrigued by the Pittman offer. It depends on the size of the league and how scarce RBs are. If RB scarcity isn't too bad, I might pull the trigger on the Pittman/1st.

I've brought this up in another thread but as a team with a 2-9 record and is dead last I'm looking to continue to churn my roster. I have an offer waiting to hit accept that is Carson + the 2.07-2.09 pick for Mixon. This lets me get an RB that is a little younger than Carson who has less concern of being in a true timeshare (Penny scares me and I also have a chance to grab Gio). Mixon still has a very high ceiling so there is a chance this is a homerun for me. I feel at the worst I get a younger version of Carson and give up a 2nd to do so. So as a non-contender trying to make a deal with a contender it is essentially passing a similar RB with a sweetener to get it done.

I plan to shop him in the off season, hoping for mid first + decent/solid prospect

A mid/late 2nd doesn't begin to close the value gap between Mixon and Carson. Mixon is a lock to be the workhorse in Cincy for the next 2-3 years and regardless of where you stand on Mixon, lead back carries a lot of value. Carson could easily be outside looking in next year. This is an easy pass.

Short of a weird overpay offer, I am still hesitant to trade Mixon unless I'm getting a young RB back. I don't know if that is crazy or not...

Misread. This is an easy accept. Worst case you should be able to sell him for a mid/late 1st when he comes back healthy next season and the Burrow buzz (and by extension the Bengals offense) is in full swing again.

This is how I view it, if worse comes to worse I just churn the player over more if I'm not anywhere close to competing, which I'm not expecting to be. But in the 21-22 season I feel Mixon will carry much more value than Carson

I would personally hold at that price. I'm not a big fan of selling low.
