AJ Green... is he just droppable at this point?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

AJ Green... is he just droppable at this point?

Postby Life of Pablo » Mon Nov 16, 2020 7:55 am

This can be a general discussion, but I'll post my team situation for context in this case.

Team in sig. The basic gist is: the league is a little shallow (about 190 players rostered), and before the draft next year, we need to cut down to 17 players (so 170 players rostered max). And AJG certainly won't be starting for me this year.

Even beyond this year, in a non-PPR league that can only start 2 WR, 2 RB, and a FLEX, I don't really see him being startable at all for a contender anymore. Could leave the Bengals next year and finish his career similar to Larry Fitzgerald, but even then, we're looking at WR3 numbers for the most part?

So would I be overreacting if I just dropped him? It is AJG after all and I love him. But at this point I would rather just use the roster spot on a lottery ticket or even to stream a kicker or D/ST. I haven't been able to watch Bengals games and he's obviously not really been on any highlight reels... is he just washed?

And no, nobody will trade for him lol, so don't suggest that. Our trade deadline is in 3 days anyway (this Thursday), and he didn't really have a strong closing sales pitch with his goose egg yesterday.

I don't know if he is washed, but Cincy is going with a youth movement and he's done there. I'd say in a 10 team league with such shallow starting requirements you can easily drop him.

Based on roster size, I think he is droppable if you have better options on the waiver wire. Long term, it's tough to predict but I dont expect much from him next year either.

I’m holding him in my 10 teamer, but essentially as a handcuff for Higgins. The plan was that would be the other way around, but works both ways. You have enough depth at WR and shallow enough req’s to let him go though if you like a WW option better.
