Massive Overhaul for 2021

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Which version of my team would you prefer moving forward?

just gotta take your lumps and learn (although a little research wouldve shown you were vastly underrating elite QBs in SF).

Kyler would be similar to CMC or Saquon in 1QB value.
I agree

I did some digging to see if there was actually anything deeper to my feelings and to measure exactly how astray my feelings about QBs may have led me :think: I actually think what I found is interesting. Below I’ve compared my starting lineup in PPG and also bolded who I believe is the better dynasty asset.

START 1-2 QB
Kyler Murray—-> Sam Darnold | -20 PPG
Rodgers —-> Big Ben | -8.5 PPG

START 2 RB
Cook —-> Chubb | -9.2 PPG (Last year it was -4.8 PPG)
Howard —-> Fournette | +5.6 PPG

START 3 WR
Godwin/Sutton—-> Godwin/Sutton | EVEN PPG
Golladay —-> Juju | EVEN PPG (Tie goes to the younger IMO)

START 2 TE
Jarwin —-> Jarwin | EVEN PPG
Gronk —-> Cox | -1.5 PPG

START 3 FLEX
De. Parker —-> Landry | -1.8 PPG (more established and consistent over time)
Cobb —-> Fulgham | +8.6 PPG
Fitzgerald —-> Cobb | +4.2 PPG

BENCH
Brady—-> Minshew | -3.9 PPG (I’d say this is a dynasty wash)
Tevin Coleman —-> D. Harris | +6.1 PPG
Lamar Miller —-> D. Dallas | +6.2 PPG
DeA. Washington/Asiasi/Witten/C. Patterson/JJ Taylor/J. Richard/Snead ——> SAME
OVERALL PPG DIFFERENTIAL ——> -11.3 PPG

OTHER BENCH ADDITIONS —-> 11 players
Penny/Vaughn/A. Tate/Njoku/Keene/Michel/Wilkins/Olszewski/Hodge/Fitzgerald/Pope

OTHER BENCH SUBTRACTIONS —-> 10 players
Ty Montgomery/McKissic/Grant/Sims/Proche/Harmon/T. Sharpe/Begelton/Chester Rogers/Jonathan Ward
DYNASTY GAINS
At least 5 (arguably 9 including Minshew, Juju, Cox, Landry)
DYNASTY LOSSES
At least 3 (arguably 7 including Brady, Golladay, Gronk, Parker)

So this brings the conversation to some very interesting questions in response to the majority. But first I want to embrace my lumps by acknowledging that looking back I definitely could have gotten more for Murray 100% in his specific trade. With that said I don’t want to ignore these questions (though they are more for me than they are for anyone else to validate):

Questions
What is the value/production differential in the bench before and after?
And will the collective value/potential of the bench be significant enough to offset the LOSSES?

I don’t know the answer to either. But I’m hoping a few things fall my way in SEA, TB, NE, with Juju, Darnold, Njoku, and Tate. If they do then I’m an evil genius. If they don’t I’m an assclown. Either way I’m having fun :lol: :dance:

A rebuild is best done with good, young players. That’s what you had in K. Murray at the most important position in a SF. That one will be hard to come back from, as QBs are cheapest during the startup. It appears you had fun on the adrenaline of trading. I don’t advocate using them exclusively, but you may want to find a trade calculator to help weigh your decisions until you get your feet under you. It needs to take SF into account. Just watch it in the future.

The problem with you red and green analysis is that many of your "green" players are average players who can be replaced in real life and fanatsy easily. Next year there's a very good change those "green" players turn red from guys you simply picked up via free agency or the draft.

Darnold getting traded really helps your QB situation but I still can't wrap my head around what you got for Kyler? Like was it a 15 for 1 trade where you got a bunch of small depth for Kyler? I saw in your PPG addition subtraction you gave a huge boost to Fulgham but he didn't score more than 5 points after week 8. Not gonna lie, unless you have about 5 additional firsts, you still lost huge on this.

I’d give Darnold a tentative bump, as Carolina didn’t give an insignificant amount (in terms of real NFL draft capital lol) to get him. I would be surprised if they drafted someone early to compete with him. However, most of what I read through across the thread remains the same from an overall value standpoint. Murray would have been the one piece I wouldn’t have moved whether rebuilding or not, outside of a massive overpay that not only netted a slightly lesser QB, but also provided a significant upgrade elsewhere or great draft capital.

I honestly don't see where you improved your team anywhere. I really hope you received some first round picks. Or you just learned a valuable lesson.

I think you did very, very poorly. As others have alluded to already, it looks like you lost a ton of value that seems to have just disappeared.
You mention trading with every other owner in the league. Was this intentional? Possibly you took a bunch of lousy deals just to say you made a trade with everyone? Just trying to rationalize here. I can’t imagine anyone saying they would prefer your team now to what it was before. And it sounds like the only future pick leverage you gained was a single 2022 2nd? Woof

Looking at the breakdown of the before and after, I don't see how you improved your team at all through this process. Did you end up landing a bunch of 1st round picks? If so, your team and the outlook could look much different after the 2021 and 2022 drafts if you loaded up on 1sts.

Your QB took a massive hit, but for what? RB are slight upgrades and I don't really care for any of the WR swaps

Still massive confusion for me. Its like Kyler & Rogers just vanished & 2 average to below average QBs replaced them.

Unfortunately, this is how I see it as well.. you seem very knowledgeable but these trades somehow lack basic common sense? (I don’t mean to be rude)
