Melvin Gordon Value Check

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Melvin Gordon Value Check

Postby Gazzerk » Wed Nov 04, 2020 9:13 pm

I recently got Gordon back as a trade add on piece. I traded him away a few weeks ago as I have Lindsay and believe he is the more valuable back in Denver. I only took Gordon back because it was practically free to take him and there wasn’t much else of value on the other owner’s team. Now I am trying to move him for a piece to add to my team for the future but I’m finding that almost every owner in my league hates Gordon or thinks he has zero value. I’ve tried to move him to a top contender team that happens to have half his guys out with covid and all of his RBs out this week. Gaskin, Mixon and A Jones. He wouldn’t even bite. Is Gordon’s value that bad? Is there anything in particular that I should target or should I just sit on him and hope he’s useful down the road? I’m not a contender and looking to next year. My league does not deal draft picks right now so that is not an option.

Unfortunately his value is pretty low currently. Maybe 2 2nds, give or take. I doubt you'd get a 1st anymore.

Unfortunately we can’t trade draft picks yet. Hopefully after this season. I’m looking for a comparable value player that I can get a bit younger with to use for next season.

If you cant trade for picks, I would hold and hope his value goes up, but sounds like you may be stuck with him since there is zero interest.

Gordon is tough, he'll almost always be worth less than what his actual value is (never really understood why). Since your not competing, This makes your decision easier imo. Trade him for what you can, he wont be the piece to bring you a title in 2 years if your in a rebuild now.

I traded Gordon last week for a mid-late 2nd and Jaylon Smith. Smith's value is probably late first-early 2nd (high scoring LB's are pretty valuable in this league) I was happy with the return.

Not being able to trade picks in season does make it tough for you however. Tough to come to a player comp valuation.

Using picks as a common commodity, i'd agree with above that he's probably worth 2 2nds or a late first. But since you cant trade picks your first job is gonna be finding someone thats interested in him. If your struggling to find a fair offer you can always wait until the offseason and move him for picks. Although he'll probably be worth less at that point

If you can get one of the rookie WRs from this class that were all bunched together there, it would be a great trade for you.

Thanks. I may have an option to move a small package with Gordon for Fuller and a little more. Not sure I would even want to do that. Henry Ruggs may also be an option. Thoughts?

If you could get ruggs I’d jump. If you aren’t competing any WR with youth and potential are better odds and value looking forward. Tough without picks.

I'd rather have Fuller than Gordon, so if the +s on each side are similar I like that.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

If you can sell Melly and get Ruggs back, that's a nice move. Or Marquise Brown or Diontae Johnson, as both have had down weeks this past one

I now have a few different Gordon + offers sitting out there for Ruggs, Claypool and Chubb. If I get a bite on anyone of those I'll be thrilled. MG

Quick update. I left an offer out there of Gordon for Ruggs straight up. It’s been sitting there for a week then he accepted it this morning. Looks like Gordon likely won’t actually see a suspension until next season but it still feels fair enough. Am I off?
