Akers dropped

So someone in my dynasty league dropped Akers. It’s a FA bid league and Akers will be available on next weeks waivers. I know I should put in a bid and likely drop Peterson. My question is bid amount. I have 84 of 100 FA dollars available and the highest available budget left in my league. Another team has 82 FA dollars left. I assume Akers is worth a full 83 dollar bid to make sure I get him? I mean this is the type of player you hope to get off FA all year, right? Or am I overvaluing Akers, and should put in a much smaller bid and likely get outbid? Other teams have 80, 62, 60, ... FA dollars available

Yes. 83. That guy should be dropped from the league. LOL. He's not cut out for Dynasty. Akers is a first round rookie pick, and we are 7 games in. You go every dollar in needed to get him, end of story. Hopefully you can't trade WW money, or I'd be trying to trade for more.

I traded a 2nd for $80 (we start with 100) a while back to win Aaron jones a couple years ago.

I would bid $83 and make sure you get him. Owners expect way too much immediately from rookies. Lack of patience is the worst trait for dynasty, but is your reward here.

Unless this is a 6 team league with shallow rosters, Akers should not be waived.

I guess who has the most FA $$$ left? I'd simply bid a dollar more than that, if someone has more than you go all in and hope they don't spend as much.

Especially at this point in the year, Akers not only has future RB1 potential but he may provide more immediate returns than anything on waivers. Maybe he won't be the guy this year but I don't think it would shock anyone if he handles 10-15 touches down the stretch.

So obviously the right dynasty answer is to bid $83 and ensure you get him. To play devil's advocate if you are a strong competitor and will need FAAB to get streaming defenses/kickers later in the year this might be something that costs you later on. There could be another backup RB that pops up that you could use or pick up in order to block an opponent.

Again, the right answer is to get Akers, just think there is a scenario where it ends up being a negative for your team.
