Barkley+ for Cook+

Postby nosferatu » Fri Oct 30, 2020 7:17 am

For team B below. In a 4-way tie for 4th right now after some bad luck thus far (most PF most PA). I still like my team to make the playoffs and compete for the ship. Posted a different option involving Carson yesterday, but had this trade come together quickly last night and I pulled the trigger. How did I do?

Gave: Saquon, Mims, Eifert, 2021 2nd (late)
Got: Cook, Hunter Henry

2022: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4

B - 12tm PPR: QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, 2FLX (SFLX in 2022)

Helps you this year, but I would have held your side.

Yeah it will help this year but I think it will hurt next year and for longer. I would have kept your side.

What about it hurts me that much long term? To me it was:

Barkley ~ Cook
Henry < Mims (but I like Henry's situation way better than Mims')
Late 2nd/Eifert are not worth that much.

I see it as paying a slight premium for pieces now to better compete.

For me it comes down to Barkley >> Cook. If you view them more or less equal then yea, it’s a slight premium for win now pieces, but I disagree with the centerpiece values. However, and as others have said, you are going for the championship this year and this move obviously helps for 2020. If you win you won’t regret it.

What you’re going to hear is a bunch of people saying Barkley has much more long term value than Cook. Consensus would say you lost based on that.

I actually disagree though and would rather have Cook long term. Barkley has actually proven to be more injury prone and his offense will keep him producing less than Cook over the next couple of years. By the time that might subside the window for elite RB value/production will have closed

I value Barkley over Cook, but my argument won't have much legs because injury/situation/one is producing and one isn't. I also have Mims over Henry, and then you add Eifert (who cares about this piece) and a 2nd on top of it and I do not like this trade.

Regardless, your team is great and this should help your chances to win this year.

I would definitely prefer Barkley to Cook long term. I'd also prefer Mims and a second to Hunter Henry. I was only able to land Mims in one league, but I'm a big fan of him as a prospect.

Though it seems strange that you posted a trade here looking for feedback, then reacted defensively when you didn't hear positive reviews. I don't think you got crushed in this trade, but I think you let recency bias overly influence your decision.
