This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Should I do it?

Should I trade Tua for James Robinson (10 team SF, 6 pt passing TD's)

Postby SteelLake » Wed Oct 28, 2020 8:04 am

I'm stumbling around the last playoff spot, been trying to move a QB for a RB and not kill my future and gotten nothing...
I'm starting to believe Robinson is the real deal, plus its starting to look like I'll get the 1.01 (pick from another owner), so will probably still have Wilson, Wentz, Burrow, and Lawrence

QB; RB; RB; WR; WR; WR; TE; Super flex; flex

Current Roster:
Wentz, Wilson, Burrow, Tua, Hill
Dobbins, Singletary, Mattison, Boston Scott, Hasty, Brian Hill, Jeremy McNichols, Darrynton Evans
A-Rob, Ridley, Woods, Fuller, Aiyuk, Landry, Fulgham, Gallup, Scott Miller, Byrd, Jeff Smith, Renfrow
Fant, OJH, Graham

Other assets:
I own all my picks, 2 extra firsts and 2 extra seconds in 2021, and an extra 1st in 2022.
2021 1sts: Probably the 1.01 and 2 middle to middle-late

I wouldn't. I think the value is fine, but Tua has more value down the line than J Rob, and I don't think getting JROB makes you a legitimate contender.

I would hold. Robinson probably does not put you over the top anyway and if you don't win the title, I could see regretting this trade. Even if you get the 1.01 pick, you will have some serious trade value to think about in the offseason.

No thanks. I don't like JRob much, and while Tua is unknown still he could be really good, his upside is enough to keep him. While making the playoffs is fun, sneaking in as the 6th seed isn't worth what Tua could become later.

Given your projected 1.01 pick, existing QB strength, and need at RB I like this trade for you if you believe in Robinson and think he remains a starter next year and beyond.

This 100% depends on your thoughts on Robinson moving forward. I personally think he's looked fantastic and see no reason why he won't maintain future value and production.

Giving up the long-term upside of Tua in SF is not worth the short-term gain of Robinson

Yea, I keep telling myself that as I keep collecting QB's, and then teams balk at giving me any value most of the time.

This is a longstanding league that just switched to superflex (did it on 2 years notice). I gathered QB's during that time, and its yet to pay off... Still holding out hope the values bump up some more.

Ugh, I'm starting to get to the point where I wish I could hide/delete every James Robinson thread!

Honestly though, if you're a contender and have a ton of QB depth and really need an RB - that's the ONLY situation I even consider it. And even then, that's a bold strategy, Cotton.

Honestly, in 10tm I would be fine trading off Tua with a couple caveats. First, now is probably a bad time to sell Tua. If he plays well his value will skyrocket. Second, I would look to capitalize on a better RB since you don't look like a competitor in 2020.

Lastly, I'd be selling your 1.01. I love the idea of Lawrence, but you have Wilson, wentz, and burrow. Let someone else pay a premium for Lawrence and you trade down to 1.03 and snag the best skill player.

I'd hold here. Also if you look at JRobs playoff schedule in weeks 15 / 16 he faces Balt and Chicago, two stout defenses, which doesn't help you in going for it.
