Aiyuk value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I don't think OP said his league was SF (and the team in his sig is not). Also I'm generally not that enthusiastic about drafting TEs given how long they generally take to develop.
Sorry. Meant SF as in san fran.... lol. Too many acronyms in this game.

2020 is a historical WR class and Aiyuk was a 1st rd pick in that class.

Seems like people are overvaluing picks now based on the 2020 rookie production.

I thought it was somewhat overrated after the top 2 guys for me (Jefferson & Lamb) and even traded out of multiple spots in the mid-late 1st round because of it. I still kind of lean that way but Higgins and Claypool have definitely surprised so far. I think next year's WR class will rival this year's RB class.

...how can you still lean towards thinking the 2020 class was overrated? Halfway into their rookie season there are already 12 guys performing at level somewhere between "very good for a rookie" and "very good for anyone". Plus a few higher draft capital guys like Jeudy and Shenault who have had moments, are doing alright for a rookie, and still have significant upside, plus a few guys who went in 1st of a lot of rookie drafts who have been hurt at times (Mims, Reagor, Ruggs, Pittman...plus Tua in SF) but could still end up having solid back halves of the season. And that's not even counting a guy who went in the early 1st (Dobbins) whom we already knew was going to be more of a next season guy anyway (but who has looked solid in limited touches nonetheless). This looks like it's going to end up being a very, very strong class.

Cant get on board with that. 2020 is a loaded year, especially at WR. Check out the rookie wr break out thread in the discussion. Its on track to be the best production year in a very long time for rookie wideouts.

I am an Aiyuk owner and I would probably move him for a 2021 high-end first but if its a low end pick I wouldn't. So Aiyuk is a nice hold for me until I see more.

Yep. For some reason I think people are holding onto their own pre-draft eval and holding it against Aiyuk. It shows based on where he went in rookie drafts.

I saw him anywhere from 1.12-2.7, and it never made sense that he lasted to the mid to late second.

He was a first-round pick the team traded up for, saying he was close to Lamb as the WR1 on their board.

He’s a freak athlete.

Plays for an elite offensive coach that will scheme him manufactured touches to help raise his floor. There is no clear WR1 on the roster (granted Kittle basically is).

And the best part is that he’s been productive despite having a Covid-shortened offseason and missing a chunk of camp with a hamstring injury. He’s also had to play with three different QBs already.

This is exactly what we should want out of a first-round pick, and people might not want to pay a late first for him?

Pretty much my thoughts and I'd also add that he looks incredibly dynamic and the SF beat writers are really high on him.

As an owner is around 80% of my leagues it would take a guaranteed early 1st for me to sell him.

This is an easy accept for me. Spending a late 1st a year from now for someone who went for essentially identical value this year and is already showing out in most every way (plus all the additional draft capital, freak athlete, etc rhetoric already mentioned)? Give me the current producer vs future uncertainty.

I drafted Aiyuk at 1.10, he was my 3rd favorite WR in the class due to his freak athleticism, 1st round draft capital, and landing spot/coaching staff. I traded Deebo away to clear space for Aiyuk since I pegged him as their future WR1 from the moment they drafted him. I've started him two times this season and he has not let me down. He looks to be everything I thought he was coming out of this outlier type WR class.

There's not a chance in hell I'm trading him for a late 1st dart throw again. I'd need a top half 1st + a 2nd to start the discussion.
