Trying To Get Younger, Stay Competitive. 32 Team Dynasty

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trying To Get Younger, Stay Competitive. 32 Team Dynasty

Postby colonnaj94 » Fri Oct 16, 2020 8:19 pm

Hey guys. I'm in a 32 team .5 PPR Dynasty league, with 2x player copies. The depth of this league is like a 16 team league, so basically it's two 16 team leagues combined into one. All the team names are NFL teams.

Anyway, I won the title last year even without a few of my starters due to injuries. I've made some trades since then, but I still feel a need to get some more youth on this squad. I was trying to move Thomas plus Mattison for Metcalf plus Hines to the Cook owner. I know in theory Mattison should be worth more but is that a reasonable offer? I have sent Metcalf, Hines, and Irv Smith for Thomas and Mattison but I might settle for the two RB swaps. What else should I do with this team? I'm seventh in possible points, one game out of first in my division.

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX
QB Tom Brady
QB Drew Brees
QB Jameis Winston

RB Derrick Henry + Jeremy McNichols
RB Jonathan Taylor (Just acquired earlier today)
RB Melvin Gordon
RB Cam Akers
RB Alexander Mattison
RB Latavius Murray
RB Carlos Hyde

WR Michael Thomas
WR Robert Woods
WR Tyler Boyd
WR Diontae Johnson
WR Julian Edelman
WR Greg Ward
WR Zach Pascal
WR Danny Amendola

TE Travis Kelce
TE Jordan Akins

PICKS:
2021 3rd
2022 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

I feel a need to move on from Michael Thomas and get younger at receiver. My RBs might be okay long-term, for the most part maybe?

I would hold Thomas until his value rebounds a bit and then revisit, but he is likely a strong hold. Based on this league being an equivalent to a 16 team league, I think you are in pretty good shape as of now. If Akers makes a jump, he would help long term. What's the market like for Gordon?

Your RBs are sick in what is essentially a 16 team league for now and the future.
I agree would be selling low on MT. After a couple good games will be the time to sell him.
Stating the obvious but QB is the position to get younger.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I wound up trading that 2021 3rd I had for Jimmy Graham because I'm fully aware that I had no viable backup tight end lol. I do agree that I do need to get younger QBs. With no picks though it's gonna be tough..

Well you have two "ancient" qb's and nothing behind them. And if Brees retires and Winston doesn't get resigned as the starter then you are screwed at qb and need help there. You have great depth at wr and rb. You have a top te, but he's aging. And in 2021 you have no picks until the 3rd rd, which is basically the 5th rd. So I'm looking to do a few things here. First I'm waiting a few weeks, see if you rebound, get healthy and can make a run. If you can't / don't make a run hopefully MT rebounds and you can sell him off for a huge return. I'm also looking to move on from Henry, everyone is rb needy and he is going to be run into the ground giving him a very short life span. I'd even see if I can land a player / pick for Murray to the Kamara owner. Other than that keep rollin for a few and see if your team turns it around. Good luck.

If you could upgrade from MT to DK for just the cost of swapping those RBs, that’d be awesome, but I’d be surprised if the DK owner goes for that. Hell, I’m not even sure Mattison is worth more than Hines. Hines at least has some degree of standalone value as a spot start in (essentially) a 16-team league. Mattison will only ever be startable when Cook is hurt. Asking for Irv on top is probably overkill, but even the 2-for-2 deal is a pretty big win for you. Good luck!
