Trade for Crowder?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade for Crowder?

Postby cvbuc » Wed Oct 14, 2020 10:17 am

For team 1 in sig:

Strong contender / front runner for the chip. I need a WR2/3 type to solidify my depth and lineup with the uncertainty around Juju and Edelman.

An 0-5 team in a rebuild has a few WRs I like: McLaurin, Parker, Crowder and it obviously seems like Crowder is the guy they are willing to part with. They've already turned down offers of a 2nd and 3rd for Crowder.

First: is everyone buying into Crowder as a solid WR3 floor with upside? Any concern that he fades when the other receivers return or Gase gets fired?

Is he worth a 2022 1st?
Is he worth Michael Pittman?

Or should I stand pat and wait and see what I have in Pittman when he returns?

Appreciate the advice.

I think he'll have a great floor this year in PPR but I'm not sure I'd pay those prices you've mentioned. I could also see Juju and Edelman rebounding to the point where you wouldn't need another WR. Also Preston Williams is starting to look interesting as he continues to recover from the ACL tear.

Is this other team actively shopping his WRs? Are trades prevalent in this league or is there time to stew on this more?
"Marathon Square" - 16 team full PPR league with 24 player roster. Keep 16 per year indefinitely, draft 8. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team DST
QB: Jordan Love, Deshaun Watson
RB: Travis Etienne, Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Kendre Miller, Jaleel McLaughlin, Sean Tucker, Deuce Vaughn
WR: A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Calvin Ridley, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Allen Lazard, Isaiah Hodgins, Justin Shorter
TE: T.J. Hockenson, Cole Kmet, Kylen Granson
K: Didn't make the playoffs in 2023  , and don't usually hold one in the offseason
Team DST: Cowboys, Lions

Picks:
2024: All my picks except 3rd rounder

Disclaimer: My one and only Championship in this league was way back in 2011. Therefore, take my replies with the appropriate grain of salt.

Crowder is one of those players who will provide you with a high scoring floor in PPR formats. He lacks monster upside, but if you have that on other parts of your roster and just need 12-17 points Crowder is your guy. He feels like one of those players that no one really values however, so just know that you probably won't recoup the value you give up to get him in a future deal.

I'd draw the line at a 2nd and a 3rd. a 22 1st or Pittman is too rich for my blood. There are just so many WRs out there that I'd rather pay up for if I'm dealing a 1st.

I would move a 2nd for Crowder but not a 1st or Pittman.

Great points above - I def hold out hope that my other WRs rebound - but also know how it goes sometimes when you bank on hope. There is definitely time to stew. I approached the other team since I know they are 0-5 and out of it.

I'll stew on this another week and see what develops - thanks.

Terrific points. I absolutely agree that Crowder will likely never recoup value in the future no matter what he does. I'll hold firm on my original offer as you suggest. thx

I wouldn't hesitate to trade Pittman -- or even Pittman and a 3rd -- for Crowder.

Remember: current season points are highly valuable, and, in PPR leagues, Jamison Crowder is the NUMBER 2 WR in points per game.

I don't think that guy will ever trade Crowder if he wont take a 2+3. I'd look elsewhere if trying to acquire a WR as this particular person seems to overvalue his own players.
