Trade Russ in a rebuild?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade Russ in a rebuild?

Postby JasonM31 » Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:34 pm

For Team 1 in my sig, I’ve decided to blow it up and rebuild. Was able to flip Julio for a projected mid-late ‘21 1st and Devante Parker for Reagor and a projected mid-late ‘21 2nd. I’m not really looking to move Russ since he could have a few more seasons of elite production, but a few teams are interested. Was thinking of trying to re-acquire my ‘21 1st by offering Russ for Stafford and the 1st. Feels a little light though. I also have an offer of Tannehill, a projected mid-late ‘21 2nd as well as a ‘22 1st. Wanted to counter that with Tannehill, Chark, a projected mid-late ‘21 2nd, and a projected early ‘21 2nd. Thoughts? Too little? I always see these posts saying “____ is worth at least 2-3 1sts” but no one in my league ever does that. Any help is appreciated.

I traded Russ for Murray in a package to a “contender”. 31 isn’t that old for a QB. I think if you can get the chark side that’s good. Stanford does zero for me, I’d not do the tannehill but that’s me

Wilson still has lots of life in him.... unless you can go buy low on lamar as he has come back down to earth a little bit... or maybe the josh allen owner if he is a contender might prefer Wilson for a championship run.... otherwise id stick with Wilson.
I wouldn't move him for picks... .you would pray that one of those picks turned into anything close to what Wilson is

One first for Russ in a SF is ridiculous, he’s honestly worth 2-3x that to a contender - and the reason you see those type of values repeatedly thrown out on these forums (even though you often can’t trade for that much) is to dissuade you from blowing up your team and improving other teams in your league unless you can get full value in return. Put differently, why sell one of the highest scoring and most consistent QB’s - which is absolute gold in SF - right in the peak of his career, unless you can get a haul in return? Selling Russ for one 1st is how you build dynasties - for your opponents.

If you can't get top price for Wilson then I'd hold him. He is only 31 and say he wants to play into his 40's. So you can easily get another 6-8 years of high end production. Other than that nice deals, good return on your players. I'd look to move Cooks and Watkins next those are your only two other aging assets.

Stafford + a 1st is reasonable in a one-QB league. No way in a 12-team SF league.

Same with the Tannehill / Chark offer.
