How to value Swift?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

How to value Swift?

Postby ewhitney77 » Tue Sep 22, 2020 9:34 am

Hello,

My dynasty team (12 team, IDP league) is pretty well rounded, except for my RBs (Akers, Conner, Henderson, Edmonds, McFarland). I am not planning on competing this year, but may be able to leverage my WR depth to get Swift. However i am struggling to value him after a lack luster start. My WRs are Tyreke Hill, Lockett, Shenault, Ruggs, Diggs, humphries, Hardman, Tee Higgins).

Opinions on what I should be willing to part with from my WRs to get Swift?
QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Drew Lock, Sam Darnold
RB: Cam Akers, Darell henderson, James Conner, Myles Gaskin, Peyton Barber, Chase Edmonds, Anthoyn McFarland
WR: Tyreke Hill, Tyler Lockett, Stefon Diggs, Laviska Shenault, Henry Ruggs, Mecole Hardman, Tee Higgins
TE: Hunter Henry, Dalton Schultz, Dawson Knox, Christopher Herndon

He was drafted as the 3rd to 5th RB in rookie drafts this year, at 1.04 ADP. He is already getting the receiving usage in DET.

Lockett could get it done, but Lockett is undervalued and is probably better off on your roster. Ruggs would need something added on.

I'm extremely bullish on Swift. He already is the receiving back and hasn't truthfully even had a sluggish start (9+ ppr points back to back weeks). His usage will continue to go up and he is likely based on talent to eventually become a feature back that you can acquire possibly cheaper than anticipated right now.

I'd buy while the window is there, its much easier to replace a wr than 21 year old rb.

This belongs in the Dynasty Advice forum. That being said, I don't see why anyone would be moving Swfit up or down in their rankings right now. I think he holds his pre-rookie draft capital in your league. So I think you would need to add a 2nd to a player like Ruggs to get the other owner to consider it. But look at the other owners team and assess their needs, if they don't need a WR then they are unlikely to be interested in swapping rookies even for an extra pick.

Maybe Ruggs and Shenault?

Swift so far has shown a high receiving floor. Once they eventually expand his role beyond that, he could become very dynamic. 10 targets on 39 routes run so far with double digits in both games in PPR leagues.

Ruggs and Shenault may prick some owners interest.

I have a standing offer of Swift/1st for Godwin and Im considering it. Im loaded at WR and agree that Swift will see his usage and value rise by midseason. His talent is far and above anybody they have had at the RB position since Sanders. The only legit concern is the coach and front office. Poorly ran organization, hopefully they realize what they have with him and will move away from a RBBC as the season goes on.

So the owner drafted him fairly high in your draft and unless he traded for the pick he in a middle of the road team or is rebuilding. So it all depends on how he started the season, if he's 2-0 and thinking he has a shot he may move him. If he hasn't started 2-0, or a top scoring team he may realize he still has another year needed to rebuild and may not want to give up on his first round pick already. I'd start out with Diggs or Lockett and a rookie wr and see what he says.

I traded Keenan/Deebo/2021 2nd for Swift prior to week 1.

10 carries a game and he’ll be an RB1 with his receiving work and I believe he has upside for more than that.

I traded Swift and Sutton for Hopkins before the season started. You could go that route with Hill based on your team build. Offer Hill for Swift and a young upcoming WR like AJB, DK, or even Lamb if you like him a lot. You get my point I'm sure, just don't reduce your options to moving multiple pieces for Swift.

Hey everyone, thanks for the input! I ended up trading Lockett and a third for Swift. Appreciate your help! (Sorry for not putting this in the dynasty advice forum, will make sure to do that next time)

Love that deal! I traded Godwin for Swift/early 1st. I liked it more than most did, but Im stacked at WR and in need of RB pretty bad. Lockett/3rd is great value imo.
