Drop Njoku for Jarwin

Postby Jcedwards » Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:13 am

Roster cutdown was last night and Jarwin was surprisingly cut. Quite a head scratcher, as he probably would have been the best TE on this guys team. Is it a no brainer to drop Njoku to claim him? I have the #1 waiver claim, so if I want him, I will get him.

I think the only thing keeping me holding Njoku this long is the fact that I spent a 1st on him and wasn’t quite ready to drop him.

Holding onto Njoku because you spent a first on him is what's called the sunk cost fallacy.

Get Jarwin. Njoku will end up somewhere else soon but there are so many variables there. Who knows if he'll ever be a fantasy starter. I'd take the guy who has a starting gig in Jarwin.

My only hesitation would be spending the #1 waiver on a 3rd TE. If your league is shallow enough for someone to drop Jarwin, there is likely other talents that will hit the wire

This was my thought. I like Jarwin over Njoku but I like having that first waiver spot too.

Thing is the league isn’t shallow. 12 teams, with 29 roster spots (10 starters, 13 bench, 6 taxi spots, and up to 3 IR/ CVD spots- up from 1 because of CVD).

After week 1, waivers will reset each week based on the inverse of the standings. So if I don’t use it this time, I will just lose my #1 waiver.

Yes drop Njoku, but not for Jarwin. There is no upside to him, and in 0.5PPR non-TE premium, only TEs with upside are worth having on the bench IMO.
If there are really no better options, I'd rather have Njoku than Jarwin in that format.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

I mean,I'd say a real shot at top 8 production is definitely substantial upside

You think Njoku has more upside than Jarwin? Jarwin has been named a breakout for this year, while the only upside Njoku has will be if he goes to another team. And if so, who is to say that he is walking into a starter’s role?

Not saying Jarwin is going to be top 10 or anything, but he can be top 15. Can’t say the same about Njoku. But like I said I have been holding onto him and have been hoping for a trade to boost his value.
