Gurley for a 1st?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Gurley for a 1st?

Postby dynastysports » Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:44 am

14 team superflex start QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, SUPER, 2FLEX(RB/WR/TE)

I was offered:
give: Todd Gurley
get: 2021 1st

I'd project the 1st to be a mid round pick. I'd project myself as a fringe playoff team with upside if some of my riskier picks pan out. If I trade Gurley though I would need to commit to a rebuild. From a pure "value" perspective I think it isn't bad, but I feel like its light. Any counters?

His Roster:
Brady, Rivers
Jones, Thompson, Hines, Dillon, Hyde, T. Williams
Adams, Allen, Woods, Gallup, B. Edwards, Hightower, Lazard, S. Miller, Patterson, A. Tate, Valdes-Scantling, Watson, Callaway, Byrd
Kittle, Hooper, Akins

My roster:
Burrow, Rodgers, Foles, Stidham, Allen, Mullens
Gurley, Fournette, Coleman, Henderson, Hill, Guice, D. Williams, D. Thompson, Boone
Thomas, Godwin, Jeudy, Cooks, Harry, Campbell, Arcega-Whiteside, Hurd, Harmon, Zay Jones
Gronk, Smith Jr., Griffin

I would take the 1st as a fringe playoff team.

I'll take the first for Gurley. If your going to commit to a rebuild then I'd be looking to move some of your other players as well. I'd wait, hopefully, for a few big games out of ARod and LF and then look to move them. Your biggest asset is MT, with the qb situation up in the air beyond next year it may be a perfect time to get a huge return for him. Good luck.

I've thought of that. The main thing is this is the first year so there are a lot of teams that will be competitive and there aren't really any clear top teams. Plus, nobody has more then their own first at this point so finding a deal may be tough, but I'm going to put it out there. Thanks!

take the first and rebuild that team. Even in a 14 teamer your team is really hurting for talent.

Q: Kyler, AR
R: JT, CMC, Barkley, chandler
W: Evans, Chase, Mooney, Collins, Dell, Pickens
T: Kelce, Goedert

K: Sanders

Team #2: back to back champion
12 team, 1ppr (1.5 te), 1Q,2R,2W,1T,1SF,1F,1D,1K

Q: R Wilson, Murray, Watson
R: Swift, Walker, gus bus
W: Puka, Metcalf, Dell, Cooper, DJM, K Allen
T: Kelce, Pitts
K: Tucker
D: CLE

Team #3: back to back champion
14 team, SF, 1PPR (2PPR for TE), 1Q,2R,3W,1T,1SF,2F

Q: Mahomes, Rodgers, Watson, Heinicke, walker
R: Mostert, walker, a Jones, Wilson, Charb, Z White, McLaughlin, freeman, d Williams, Reynolds,
W: Waddle, A St Brown, K Allen, Cooper, Nuk, Juju

Good decision to take that deal. Even if Gurley has a good season his future is still up in the air. If you likely aren't going to be competitive this year it's better to take a 1st for him now.

My bigger question is why is a team with two of the oldest QB's in the league trading away a 1st for a player that is not going to put him over he top?
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Well that is a fair question. This is the first year of this league and we just did the start up so he has a top 6 team (which means playoffs) and with a fair chance to end up in a championship based on the other teams IMO.

I was going to say I'd rather trade a first for an rb to team with Gurley, and that makes you a contender this year.

Since you made the deal I'm glad you got Dillon tossed in, because that's what I'd have countered with if going ahead with the rebuild.

Good job!
