Metcalf + for Brown

I just made a trade in a 12 team SF league. I'm rebuilding, but it's a shallow format with only 22 roster spots and 2 taxi.

Give: D.K. Metcalf + 2021 2nd (mid, not mine)
Get: A.J. Brown

I thought Brown was the better value here, but I'm curious how I did.

This is exactly how I feel. I already have 4 1sts in next year's draft to build depth. I needed to start accumulating studs to build a winning team in 2021 and beyond. This isn't a deep rebuild, it's a 1-year retool.

Ehh, I'm a biased DK owner, but I don't think Brown really did that much to separate himself from DK. Both players have similar floors and ceilings, and I would argue Metcalfs is higher.

I also have AJB a little higher than DK, and I think the price you paid was fair to acquire him. In a rebuild I probably would have held DK and the pick though.

I see them as same tier more or less, so the pick might have been a bit of an overpay but if you like AJB a lot better than so be it.

I don't think AJ Brown is in the same caliber of physical talent as DK Metcalf. I expected Brown to have a much better rookie season than Metcalf as I thought Metcalf would be more of a project. With Brown having the more advanced and pro ready skill set. With far superior competition, Metcalf almost out produced Brown (while dealing with injuries). When you factor in the quarterback difference, I'm not seeing what everyone else is.

There's no way in hell I'd add to DK to get Brown. I'd probably prefer Brown straight up on a strong contender, but that would still be close. On all middle of the road or rebuilding teams I take Metcalf in a heartbeat.
