End of an Era: Traded away MT

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

End of an Era: Traded away MT

Postby HailState89 » Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:23 pm

My run in one league is over, throwing in the towel.

2016 - 10-3, lost in Championship
2017 - 10-3, won
2018 - 10-3, lost in 2nd round of playoffs
2019 - 9-4, won

12 team, 0.5 PPR, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 flex

Team Before:
QB: Wilson, Fitzpatrick
RB: Bell, Hunt, Breida, Kelley, Armstead, Damien Williams, Justice Hill, Darrel Williams
WR: Thomas, Edelman, Kirk, Mims, Robby Anderson, Jeffery, AB, Scott Miller
TE: Waller, Herndon, Asiasi, Burton, Logan Thomas

I know you'll look at the team and think how in the world did I win w/ this team - I thought the same thing. Losing AB and Damien, Belling/Jeffery/Edelman all aging, decided to do a much-needed rebuild. Have done 2 trades so far:

I've done 2 trades:

Sent: Michael Thomas
Received: Juedy, Terry Mclaurin and Hollywood

Sent: Waller, Bell, Edelman, & Breida
Received: JK Dobbins

My team now:
QB: Wilson, Fitzpatrick
RB: Dobbins, Hunt, Kelley, Armstead, Damien Williams, Justice Hill, Darrel Williams
WR: Mclaurin, Jeudy, Hollywood, Kirk, Mims, Robby Anderson, Jeffery, AB, Scott Miller
TE: Herndon, Asasi, Burton, Logan Thomas

Planning to put Dobbins, Kelley, Mclaurin, Jeudy, and Hollywood all on Taxi and tank this year for 1.01. In the meantime, trade away Armstead, Robby Anderson, and Jeffery for whatever I can get.

I think you significantly undersold on both trades. That being said I'm not sure how much being able to taxi squad rookies increases their value in your league. I've only played in one league with a taxi squad, and it didn't really effect player values much at all.

I do think your team was in danger of fading out of contention and into mediocrity, which is dangerous. Hopefully your moves help accelerate the rebuild.

The 1st trade is a little short, but I like the 3 WR you got. I love the 2nd trade

If I put them on taxi-squad, I don't have to play them this year. We have to start our best active lineup.

Hard to see MT go, but I agree with your logic. You got some very solid youth potential there. I really like the 2nd trade.

I could have probably gotten more but I knew I needed more than 1 big piece and a complimentary piece, the three made sense as all could drastically be worth more than what they are currently.

Your never going to get the perfect return for a stud like MT, but under the circumstances you did well. You restocked your team with youth and through your taxi squad you can bench everyone essentially and almost guarantee yourself the 1.1 pick. I would approach the CEH owner and see about handcuffing him with the Williams duo.
