Boston Scott for a 2nd?! - POLL

Postby TampaBay216 » Thu Aug 20, 2020 6:29 pm

This post was created to show one of my leagues that most people would agree, Boston Scott traded for a projected early 2nd (13-15th overall) is not a fair deal. The owner getting Scott is not the Sanders owner either. Let’s here your thoughts. Maybe I’m wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️

I would not pay that for Scott. He is a late 2nd or 3rd value for me. I would not pursue him unless I owned Sanders to begin with. Some owners pay up for players they really like though.

You’re not wrong. That’s awful. I’d like to think I’d turn that down on principal if it was offered to me. Probably wouldn’t but yeah that’s terrible.

The pick. Scott is a UDFA who has already been cut from a team. He showed well last year, but there just isn't a lot of rope for a player like him. A 2nd should be able to get you a better player, IMO. Scott was a waiver wire pickup last year, and could be on the waiver wire again by next year. He had a few games, but so have a lot of UDFA backs who have washed out of the league. I mean, Alex Collins had a lot more sustained success the year he was good, and look what happened to him. An early 2nd will get you a player that should at least stick on his roster for his rookie deal due to his NFL draft capital alone.

I've tried to get him for a late 2nd but other owner wouldn't accept. I don't think it's a terrible overpay but a slight overpay depending on how you see Scott I'd say some where between a mid 2nd- mid 3rd is fair value. The reason why he probably thinks he's worth more is because sanders is hurt... but Scott is also hurt right now. It's also tough to see him being more than just the 3rd down back with some plays mixed in on 1st and 2nd. I'd much rather have Dillon or Moss for that price.

I agree with that. It's definitely an overpay, but I could also totally see someone paying that if they're desperate or really believe in Scott.

It doesn't matter what we want. Once we get it, we want something else.

Well he's basically the handcuff at minimum to Sanders, we've seen him have weeks where he can blow up like he did at the end of last season. If Sanders goes down he becomes a must play, and he has a lot of upside in the passing game regardless of if Sanders is playing or not. Not to mention he's also being coached by a guy who had a very similar skill set to him (Darren Sproles). I mean what would you pay for Mattison or Pollard? I'd pay a mid 2nd for these 2 so a late 2nd for me is fair value for a guy with huge upside if Sanders goes down.

Fair enough if you view him that way. I’m not really a big handcuff guy in general but if you are and view him as true handcuff I get it. I think it’s a rotation there personally though if sanders goes down, while Mattison I think would be closer to a workhorse back.

I'd agree with that but he's a flex play consideration even with sanders in the lineup as we saw the last 4 weeks last year, so while pollard or mattison might be more valuable it's really not that much more valuable, and they aren't getting on the field in the mean time.

I’d definitely take the 2nd on this one, but I do think Scott may be worth a FLEX play this year. I know they are probably going to give Sanders all he can handle, but I still think they give Scott enough work to make him FLEX worthy.
