Chubb vs Kittle

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Chubb vs Kittle

Postby ruggermad » Sun Aug 16, 2020 9:55 am

Been trying to trade for Kittle for around a year now from the owner who has been reluctant to sell. They have now enquires about Nick Chubb having found themselves in a difficult RB situation.

What do people think of a trade involving these two? Startup ADP is close and my team is strong. Kittle’s long term value is enticing. Does anything need to be added to either side to make up difference in value? Or should I stand pat with my team as is?

Roster and scoring are:

0.5 PPR (0.5 TE Premium)
0.5 PPFD
QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex, Flex, SF

QB: Dak, Russell Wilson, Herbert
RB: Barkley, Kamara, Chubb, Taylor, White, Murray
WR: Adams, Hopkins, Robinson, Landry, Samuel
TE: Ertz, Goedert, Jarwin

Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of investing value at Te. I would hold Chubb and keep that depth there. Ertz is still a top Te, and if he falters I truly think Goedert can step up and be a top 3 Te in the league once he gets his shot. Has already produced great numbers in a part time role in PHI. Factor in the uncertainty of the receiver core in PHI, I would hold tight for now and roll with your Te’s

With your scoring settings, I think Kittle holds more value in both the short and long term,

he needs an rb more than you need a te. I'd offer up Chubb, but he'd have to ante up more. Draft pick or other player upgrade.

Kittle seems to hold more value based on positional scarcity.

Given the scoring system, Kittle is in play as a top-5 scorer at ALL non-QB positions. And his career should be much longer and much more productive than Chubb's given their positions.

That makes this a win in 2020 AND in the future.

The only downside is not having protection against a Barkley injury (since you already have Murray to back up Kamara). No way am I passing up Kittle in this format just to protect against Barkley missing time. The impact and value of Kittle are FAR too big.

With your roster I like the set up you currently have. I'm a 49ers fan and love Kittle, but I'd rather have the over all depth here.

Am I missing something? The 0.5 PPFD makes Chubb worth more vs Kittle, than a typical TE premium league. Chubb had 63 rushing first down alone, vs Kittle's 53 receiving. That's not factoring in Chubb's receiving first downs. Chubb outscored Kittle without the first downs last year, with them, he outscored him by even more.

I play in a full PPR, .5 PPFD league. Kittle scored 249.5 points in 14 games last year for a 17.82 ppg average. Chubb scored 292.7 in 16 games. Subtract 18 points for Chubb’s 36 receptions and you’re down to 274.7 for a 17.17 ppg average.

It’s a pretty even trade, value-wise, but team need and positional scarcity pushes this towards the Kittle side.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell
RB: Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Dobbins, Akers, Roschon, Dowdle, Kelley
WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert

Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits
$450 cap, 60 contract years

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5

I was all for this trade when I saw your RBs, then I saw your TEs and no longer like it. You have Ertz and Goedert, stick with them and keep Chubb.
