Trade Offer: Juju for Nuk

Postby TroyH » Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:29 am

I posted a previous trade proposal that included a contingency in it. We recently negotiated and removed the contingency. With my team below would you make this trade?

Send: 1.02 (CEH), Juju, and Cooks
Receive: Hopkins, 1.06, and 1.07

I view it as Juju for 1.06 and 1.07 and then CEH/Cooks for Nuk. I think my team is a contender and I plan to take JT with the 1.01.

I'm just worried now is a bad time to buy Hopkins with his age and him being on a new team, or is this cheap enough to get him?
10-Team League, Non-PPR (QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, WR/RB/TE)
QB: Love, Watson, Cousins
RB: JT, Kyren, BRob, Roschon, Miles
WR: AJB, Wilson, Waddle, Puka, Higgins, Hopkins, Jeudy, Jameson Williams
TE: Okonkwo, Thomas
2024: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th

If you are a contender for the next year or two, I would rather gamble on Hopkins.

I say make the trade. You are a contending team and Nuk is much better than Juju. Not saying Juju can't be great but he hasn't technically shown it yet. You know Nuk is great. You're already getting JT and there are great players that will be there at the 1.06 and 1.07 (like possibly Lamb/Jeudy/Swift/Akers/Burrow).

One guy owns picks 3 through 5 and he has made it known that Dobbins and Lamb are being taken, so with those two picks I foresee 2 of Jeudy, Swift, or Akers.

I would be perfectly fine with Jeudy and Swift. If Akers is left, you could argue taking Burrow over Akers since Rodgers is knocking on retirement. Regardless, I say take the trade and be happy with three young players who should all contribute this year + Nuk.

Give me Hopkins side here. I'd make this trade. You upgrade from Juju to Hopkins. You still get to take Taylor at 1.01, and you have the 1.06/1.07 where you are getting at least one of Swift/Jeudy, if not both.

I actually slightly prefer JuJu to Nuk. I think your concerns about Nuk moving to a new team are valid, and the data backs it up. I wouldn’t expect more than high end WR2 production from him this year, maybe back end WR1 at best. Next thing you know, it’s next offseason, he’s entering his age 29 season and people are starting to call him old. Give me the guy who’s four and a half years younger and has shown elite production with a healthy Big Ben.

So it really comes down to whether you think 1.02/Cooks is a good price for 1.06/1.07. I’m inclined to say it isn’t. Fortunately, this trade doesn’t really have a huge effect on your starting lineup, other than replacing JuJu with Nuk and losing Cooks as bench depth, so I don’t think it hurts your title chances either way. It really comes down to how you want to build for the future. I’d prefer CEH to a pair of mid 1sts.

Edit: Oh yeah, I almost forgot. If you do end up making the trade, definitely ignore the guy telling you to take Burrow with a mid 1st in a 12-team 1QB league. That’d be an absolutely horrible decision.
