Start up SF Trade Looking Back

Postby MyTeam » Tue Jun 30, 2020 10:46 am

Team 2 Below
So I completed a SF start about two months ago and I was bored today so I wanted to see how my pick trades would have looked if they were the players selected. I regret not making more trades during the start up. I had a couple opportunities to move into the middle of the first and grab Watson or Murray to pair with Mahomes but I decided against it.

Trade 1:
Give: M. Evans (2.12), S. Michel (10.12), D. Carr (12.12)
Get: M. Andrews (4.3), Rookie pick 9 (D. Swift) (6.10), Rookie pick 11 (J. Jefferson) (8.10)
Overall I think this is a win. In TEP I feel like Andrews and Evans are similar value but the other picks were huge wins for me.

Trade 2:
Give: D. Henry (3.1), C. Kupp (4.12)
Get: Rookie Pick 1 (J. Burrow) (3.8), K. Golladay (4.5)
I think this is a huge win for me. I would have taken 1.1 at 3.1 so being able to move back and still land Burrow was huge.

Trade 3
Give: Njoku (15.1), St. Brown (31.1)
Get: Harmon (17.7), K. Stills (20.6)
Harmon could be solid. The Cooks deal hurt Stills value a lot.

Trade 4
Give: Pick 3.8 (D. Evans) (20.12)
Get: Pick 4.1 (Hamler) (22.6), Pick 4.5 (T. Johnson) (23.7)
I really liked both of these rookie WRs so I am fine with this trade.

Trade #1 - locking up Andrews long term could be huge.
Trade #2 - really like this deal long term.
Trade #3 - I prefer the pieces you gave.

I like the trades a lot overall - I think #1 was a steal. However, I think a more useful way took at it would be to look back at everyone who was available with the picks you gave up and who you would've taken at the time (for example, were Mike Evans and Derrick Henry the players you would have selected with those picks?). Of course this would require projecting back how you ranked players a couple months ago, but I think it would more realistically show what you would have gotten out of the draft and the difference in the deals in retrospect.

Well I think the two important trades (1 and 2) were good for you. Though had you not gotten swift a 1.09 I think I would have hated deal 1. Swift there moved this into a win for me.

Love trade 2. Think you got the two better pieces for long term.

I think you lost value in trade 3, but it will come down to Harmon this year.

Trade 4 is fine. It's trading one dart throw for two. I think I like his dart throw better, but if you have the roster spots for a couple years you'll be fine

All the trades are fine. I like Harmon, so I'm good with that one. And either way none of the pieces are really that great, so not a big loss anyways.
