Gio Bernard for a 3rd?

I'm looking to compete for the title this year, but the risk of a Mixon holdout has me looking to grab his backups. I already had Trayveon Williams, and was offered Gio Bernard for an early 2021 3rd today. Is it worth taking for the security, or should I hold the pick?

He is probably worth that for you as a contender. Is Rodney Anderson available? If he comes back/stays healthy, he is the player to own in my opinion. Super talented.

Unfortunately not...his current owner is unreasonable with trades. Refuses unless a starter is involved, even for bench players

Other option he offered was Justice Hill for a late 21 3rd and Gio...would that be better?

Thats tough. Anderson is a huge gamble based on health, so not a huge lose as of now.

Understand the risk of Mixon holding out but not a fan of Gio thinking he might be a cap cut in the next month or two. It's nice to find someone else liking Rodney who I drafted last year and picked up in the 6th and final round of our recent rookie/FA drafts on several teams. I agree he's a big risk but if healthy, he could surprise. I only hope there's some indication of what's happening in Cincy before my preseason cut down in late August.

If Mixon holds out or gets injured you start Mclaurin, Parker or Guice, not Gio. Keep the 3rd.

I would consider giving Hill for a 3rd and Gio. The pick may be the best asset.

If the 3rd wins over Gio, then the early 3rd and Gio wins over Hill. I like Hill and he was a 3rd, but Dobbins sort of caps his upside. I’d rather take another shot in the early 3rd and have the piece of mind of the experienced backup.

This x2. To the OP, if possible I'd wait on this type of trade until more clarity surfaces. If instead your rookie draft is happening soon, I'd hold the pick for now with the thinking that: A) If Gio is cut, you'll be glad you held your pick. B) If Cincy keeps Gio, I'm sure the other team would still be interested. As in, who else beside the Mixon owner would be targeting Gio at this point?

I'd give an early 4th for Gio where I own Mixon and I'd give up Hill in the offer you mentioned
