Value: David Johnson & AJ Green

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Value: David Johnson & AJ Green

Postby phantasy5 » Thu Jun 11, 2020 7:30 am

David Johnson and AJ Green are both available in my league. I’ve been made offers for both that I turned down because of their age and injury history! I’m just wondering what are their true values at this point in their careers??

For a competing team, I would pay a mid to late 2nd. No more.

I've inquired about DJ to be a depth piece for a competing team. My most recent offer was a 2021 3rd and a 2022 2nd. I don't see this getting accepted, but I'm in no hurry to really add a ton to that offer considering his injury history and the fact that he turns 29 this year.

I just traded AJ Green and Jack Doyle for a ‘22 1st and 2nd, with Auden Tate and Vance McDonald (more of throw-ins to even the players). I also have David Johnson who I I hope to move once he has a few good games. Hoping for a future low 1st or early second.

Hope that helps.

For reference, I traded away DJ as part of a bigger trade. Through negotiations, it seemed like this was his perceived value in the deal:

Give: David Johnson, 2021 3rd
Get: 2021 2nd, 2022 2nd
10-team/.5 PPR/5 Pts per Passing TD. Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2FLEX (rb/wr/te)

WR: G. Wilson, B. Aiyuk, J. Waddle, T. Higgins,, Z. Flowers, Di. Johnson, K. Toney, A. Iosivas
TE: K. Pitts, E. Engram, C. Okonkwo, G. Dulcich

I'd be happy to pay that as a contending team.

Mid 2nd for me if you are an out and out contender. Johnson may have a good year left and Green certainly has upside.

Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder. I think most AJG owners have held him the past few years waiting for this coming season where (hopefully) he is totally healthy and can produce. DJ really has only had one good season and been injured and ineffective since. I think with both the owners are simply hoping to get one more year out of them or hoping that they start out hot and then sell them off. If you can get a 2nd for either right now I'd be surprised until they show something.

Thanks fellas for your input on the situation! I’m not in contention right now so I passed on these offers!
